Title: Soldier needs your help
Post by: ROGUE080 on October 09, 2007, 05:13:54 AM
Hey guys, I need a little help here. I am getting deployed AGAIN. During our training time before our deployment we will be here in the states. We will be staying on military bases though which means that I will not be able to cook for myself anymore. The food on the bases is great but sometimes not so great for you if you know what I mean. So here is my plan . . . I will eat the eggs and yogurt in the am along with milk and oj/apple juice. Workout throughout the day as possible. I am not sure if there will be a gym on site so it may be a lot of push up, sit up, side straddle hops etc. I will run a lot as well, this is ok though because I need to cut some anyways. I figure that I can go meal replacement for lunch. Work out more when possible. And then eat the healthiest choices provided at dinner time, with more workout in there as possible. Here is my dilemma though . . . I need to figure out some things that I can take or make to take with me so that I can continue to get good sources of protein, vits, etc. I am thinking maybe making some sort of bars or something along those lines that I can make in bulk to take so that I can have them on hand as a snack, meal rep, or something like that. I do not have a great deal of money to spend on things like "protein bars" etc. so if you have some recipes or any other ideas for things to take with me, that would be great. Thanks in advance for all of your help and God bless ! ! ! !

I never deploy or field ex without jerky for one. At the chow hall have a burger or 2 minus the bun. Choose MREs like the chicken, steak or pork patties.

one of my buddies was just deployed as well. i wish you the bet, and thanks for kicking butt for me out there!  do they let you have protein powder/weight gain powder?  that's my suggestion for bulking up or at least staying lean. my buddy says it gets f'in hot out there, and it's hard for bodybuilders and weight lifters to stay muscled up.

Thanks a million for the support guys. That info is good to know and will help me I'm sure. I am still looking for some kind of recipe for some kind of bar that I can eat in a crunch. I figure that they will be small enough to take almost anywhere. I am thinking of something with maybe fruit, peanut butter, protein powder, somethings like that. I just don't know how to make it all stick together. Any ideas or recipes would still be greatly appreciated. And again, thanks for the support ! ! ! !

Since u've been over before this shouldn't be too bad. I ate really well the last time. Plenty of eggs and outmeal for breakfast..fresh fruit. Load up on the peanut butter from the chowhalls. Order bars if ur rolling outside the wire. I made huge bgas of trailmix and stuff while out. raid the chowhall and order ur supps and u'll do fine.

I thought the commisaries sold tons of protein bars?  At least the one in Miramar does.  Hell I'd eat 5-6 Myoplexes a day and get ripped while out, come home lean like a mother and hit up all the bitches.  Eat lots of nuts as well.  Not roasted but raw.  Roasting degredates the good oils that the nuts contain.

stateside does, not usually the quality ones though. The best thing is they are cheaper there, and then post GNCs will price match plus give you 20% off with the gold card. They hate seeing me coming into our GNC because I price match everything and basically get it half price.
