Hey lift...and some of you other guys that have done it. I'M SIGNING MY ASS UP!!! haha! In a little over a week I have my weekends off again and would LOVE to start doing a day of strongman shit each week! I guess you just get in there and get your boots muddy or what?! I figured you'd do a few runs of each event timed and go from there! What are some good training routines and techniques? What are some things you must have before you start?!?!

try to find a place that has the equipment and apparatus that you need, big tires, Atlas stones, conans wheel, logs, barrels, farmers, do a bunch of Zercher squats as well, these are VERY beneficial for strongman training.

NAh man I talked to brian over at metroflex...he's got all the shit I need man! I was looking for more ideas as far as routines or circuits..like do these exercises this many times, etc. I figured you'd train it just like you would powerlifting and such... warm up then progressively get heavier!! I'm hoping I can get started next week...but it might be two weeks. Brian has all the shit and even a 580lb yoke! SWEET AS HELL!!! He's got stones, the farmers, a big tractor tire, you name it! ;D

yeah problem is that it's hard to "warm up" like on traditional barbell and db movements because most of the implements are a set weight, what you can do with the stones is to lift progressively heavier ones but for stuff like the car flip, conans wheel, etc. it's hard to warm up, for the log press most places have a log which weight can be added to, anyway just train your regular gym movements and powerlifts during the week and go do 5-6 events on Saturdays, don't try to train both gym lifts and strongman multiple days per week, you'll burn out gauranteed.

it was something I wanted to do only once a week for a few hours on the weekends when I can have the time I want to get in there and get dirty. I plan to work up with some dumbbells and barbell sets to get good and loose before attacking anything. I'm pretty jazzed!

how busy does metroflex get?

If your gonna go full out Strongman training (which doesnt mean ALL implements all the time) then I have a great split! Otherwise, you are on track with the way you train now. You just need to TRAIN YOUR CORE and GET YOUR GRIP UP! And have fun!
