Mark Wahlberg has spent the past year perfecting his boxing skills because it really will be him taking the hits in new sports movie The Fighter. The star wanted his portrayal of boxer Mickey Ward to be authentic, so he insisted on not using a body double for fight scenes.
And Wahlberg admits his favorite film, Rocky, was his inspiration for getting it right.
He explains, "If you watch Rocky now it's a great movie and I still get excited every time I hear the music, but it looks a little staged and a little choreographed... You've gotta get in there and mix it up a little bit and make it real."

He's gotta be careful. Tyrese and James Franco hate each other cuz Franco was a bit too serious filming the fight scenes in Annapolis. I think both the actors have to be on the same page if they are going to really hit each other.

if he wants to imitate good boxing scenes he needs to watch "The Boxer" with Daniel Day-Lewis. most real fight scenes of any Boxing movie IMO...
