Title: affordable home cardio equipment?
Post by: rick brophy on October 15, 2007, 07:03:43 PM
i wouldn't mind having some sort of stair/step machine in my apartment, but my budget is probably 500-800ish and all the ones i saw on the stairmaster website were like 2000+, anyone got any recommendations for a cheaper one?

Whatever you do, just DO NOT buy a treadmill from this FitnessBlowout.com!!!

They have had 160 filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau of California, one of them is mine. I'm in a dispute with them right now because I ordered a treadmill from them in May and paid $1,397 and it broke while being installed and they still have yet to be able to get it fixed for me!! I've had a broken treadmill that is brand new and nevere used once sitting my home for over 4 months!

Trust me, DO NOT buy a treadmill from this FitnessBlowout.com!!!

I picked up a ProForm eliptical from sports authority for $350.  It's strong and has a very good range of motion.  I use it 2-3 times a week with no complaints.  Quiet.

Sports Authority is good. I got a Nordic Track elliptical from them for $599 and it has held up well for over 2 yrs. Its lying on the calories I think because it says I burn 800+ cals in 45 mins.  ??? I hate getting up to drive to the gym for cardio and this way I have no excuses to skip.

yeah, my 1-year old son, and 3-year old neice, love to climb on it too.  It's like a piece of playground equipment.  it's definitely easier to jump on that for 20 minutes of sportscenter, than to drive 15 min to the gym.

Eating less would do more to extend your life then excercise. The key is slow metabolism  ;)
