Mike Tyson Could Bench Press 200 KG's
Mike Tyson could bench press 200 KG's from the age of 18 years of age. This shows his immense strength. Figures vary but seem innacurate. What is known is he was benching 180 kilograms from the age of 14, so by the time he was 18 it could have been a lot more than 200 kg's. Saying that we all know how strong Mike Tyson is and the damage one of his punches could do on an opponent.

Ha ha - nonsense.

It was written in Monteith Illingworth's biography of Tyson that he benched 100kg (220lbs) at 15 years old. That's the only verified example of him lifting at a young age.

IIRC Chad Nicholls said Tyson had trouble squatting 225 when he was doing his nutrition.

Bull, Years back on the old Rec.sports.boxing group and Misc.fitness.weights there were a few legitimate boxing trainers that had seen Tyson bench, in his prime it was in the mid 300's for a single.

Fo Sho!  There's no way he could bench 500, but I'd rather be hit by some 500lb benching powerlifter than a 21 year old mike tyson any day.

exactly, IMO the best heavyweight ever, i don't give a shit what anyone says about Ali, Dempsey, Frazier, Marciano, etc., NO ONE could touch that man in 1986 at age 20.

I agree, Tyson was the man untill he got involved with that women. Once he went through that and prison he lost focus. He could have came back at any time and took boxing over again with the right people behind him.

Hell yeah.  Nobody could touch Tyson when matched up during his Prime vs anyone elses' Prime.  He destroyed several EX-Champions like they were Getbigs bottom bitch.  That Robin bitch was his downfall.  That and Cus dying.

true - Cus D'Amato's death was the worst thing that could have happened - it went downhill from there.

That fuckin' girl Robin Givens my friends.  This bitch and her mom faked a pregnancy so Mike would marry her and got Mike put on lithium. She realized how fuckin' crazy Mike was she bounced to got a lot of his money for not even 1 year of marriage.

Mike was incredible in his day, it was awesome watching him growing up even better if you grew up in Vegas.

Who gives a shit about Mike Tyson. Robin is not to blame for the fall of Tyson. The man took the fall all by himself. He let a bitch run his life, he was a great fighter but lacked the sack to tell her to fuck off and move on. It is very obvious to me that he was in reality and still is a mental midget punk assed thug who would rape your own children.
I do not blame anyone for his demise except himself, when are people going to realize that you have a choice and that other people do not make your decisions for you? Mike was an uneducated thug from the streets who could kick ass really good, that is all he had. His skills on how to deal with women sucked really bad.
The man went from a fortune of over 300 million to near nothing from what I hear. He was the highest paid athlete that ever lived for the amount of work he did.
His ignorance is no excuse for failure in my opinion.

Mike Tyson at best was a mediocre fighter, he was strong but unfortunately not very smart, he never beat anybody impressive, and when faced with a superior fighter like Evander Holyfield, Tyson looked like an amateur, he was so outclassed by Evander, that he flew into an infantile rage and bit Evanders ear off (which by the way, hardly fazed Evander, who still wanted the fight to continue).  Even Buster Douglas beat him up, and Buster is by no means a great fighter.  Currently his record is 50 Wins, 6 Losses, 2 No Contest.  Tyson also refused to fight a much older George Foreman, who would have knocked him senseless, Foreman in his prime was the most awesome puncher around, and for an old man, still packs a mean punch.  Tyson is a illiterate thug who learned to throw a hook, big deal.  The only thing great about Mike Tyson was his marketing campaign.

That's the truth! Tyson is an ignorant man that couldn't hold to his pants when he needed to. We can not measure a man's capability only because he can hit another man. Very dumb guy... BTW is he fighting in k-1?

Mike Tyson only was able to beat guys who were terrified of him and generally did not do that great against tall fighters.  Ali or Foreman would have beaten him in prime vs. prime.  Foreman was much more powerful than Tyson, and Ali was able to take all of Foreman's shots.  Lennox Lewis did beat him even with Tyson being one year younger.

I wouldn't say tyson was mediocre, but he is way overrated by the general public. (In contrast, no boxing authority or boxing publication would ever place Tyson in a top 10 list). He didn't fight anyone! Plus, Tyson was still in his prime when he got fucked up by Buster Douglas. Say all you want about Robin Givens and the loss of his trainer--the fight wasn't even close.

I can remember watching the Ali fights as they happened on wide world of sports. Fuck, all the guys in the niehborhood would come over (wifeless) packing their smokes and 6 packs to watch it at my ol' mans house. They used to say............that loud mouthed n.i.g.g.e.r......I want to see him get knocked out!!!!. Funny thing is it would have been another black man doing it. At any rate I fell in love with the boxing game and idolized Ali. the man was a genius in the ring. He created the "Rope A Dope" he was noted for outsmarting his apponets. He would let themselves punch themselves silly and then he would strike, Ali had one hella K.O. punch. George Foreman (whom I admire) fell prey to Ali's tactics.
Mike tyson came along and I remember hearing of him when he was an unknown fighter in his teens. I told my father he would be the youngest champ ever. Not the greatest.............jus t the youngest, I knew what the circuit was then and could see they where really after tyson to be the man.
I also knew of Holyfield and how much more of a technition he was over Tyson. I knew then that if they ever squared off for real that Tyson would only win by a lucky shot. I actually feel sorry for guys like Tyson, he was an ignorant man who had it all yet did not know it and or how to deal with it. I really feel that D'mato would have saved his fall. It really is unfortunate yet that is how the chips fell. :-\

If you really think Mike was a medocre fighter you know nothing about boxing. Do you consider Holmes great? A lot of people do, well Berbick, Spinks and Carl Wiliams did 60 rounds with Holmes in total, the same trio did 4 with Tyson. Tyson also spanked Holmes himself easily.
With the exception of Ali/Clay, Tyson at 21 beats every heavyweight that ever lived.

Lennox Lewis at his prime spanked Tyson, admittedly not at his own prime, but even a younger Tyson would still have gotten outboxed by Lewis at his best
