some quick comments

im not that impressed with silvas fight record, so i was kinda hoping for an upset here... but franklin suits him perfectly, and franklin was scared no doubt about it. anderson was totally relaxed and has such a big arsenal to unleash...

alvin robinsons condition was phenomenal... guy looked so fresh after the fight... incredible. had a great reach both standing and on teh ground...

tim sylvia did what he always done.. he does just as much as he need to get the win... he wore vera down for 2 rounds because of the extra weight he carries then throw some sloppy punches and kicks which was just enough... the broken (?) hand of vera played in as well

most impressive fighter of the night (of those fights aired that i saw...) was belcher... starnes got better hands, more precise an accurate punches, but belchers total stand up was fantastic, muay thai at its best... great variation of kicks, knees, punches, elbows and use of clinch. was beautiful to watch!

Not suprised by Tim "The Boring Ogre"'s win over Vera.  ;)

I like Vera, but I think the Sylvia-Vera fight is probably the best shot of an "upset" out of all of the major fights tonight. I think people are underestimating Tim Sylvia somewhat. His size causes major problems for most fighters.

I still think Vera's got a very bright future in the UFC.

i agree. i knew something was wrong with him. because he wasn't swinging punches he was trying to hit with his forearm. a broken hand can def. affect your ability to fight :D

Definitely agree about Belcher. Other than Silva's, his performance was the most impressive display of the night. I got a long interview with Alan after the fight and then I nearly made him pass out at the post-fight press conference when I suggested to Dana that Alan's considerable stand-up skills might be the best match-up for Silva's next title challenger. I'll post the link when I get back to NY.

Yeah everybody and their grandmother does muay thai these days, but very few are able to put it together and have it flow like that in actual fighting... very impressive stand up, also he had no fear in going in their trading and swinging which should make him popular with the crowd.

Great fight, too bad about the cut but I think he would've won either way
