I got fired from my job at U**A (ins., bank, etc.) for looking at getbig on my breaks- no warning- nada... fuckin gay! And i just got a fuckin 15k a week ago for an investments job... muther fucker.... ::)

I need to buy him a beer! I guess they don't give you any warning just adios... ah fuck it. THe boss ran up and packed my shit one bag full of BB mags ripped and they spread out across the table HR and i were sitting at... i was like "Well what a surpise, you found my other offense"

I just find it hard to believe that a company is going to get rid of someone who has been there for a year and half, and was about to get a big raise over something as simple as surfing the web on company time..on a bb message board..

Lol, I wish- their locations are locked down like a miltary base bc the service the military they try to mirror them as much as possible. Physical Security like a muther fucker. I cordinated the whole company event for our side of the company aprox 500 peeps plus fam for this saturday.. they should have fun figuring that out now...

A family friend came over, he's the level 2 manager they're the dept that handles phone systems, switch boards, all the hardware- i guess they have everything including every keystroke you do, so if i posted a shit, damn it, hell, even a f*ck- thats applies to the zero tolerance- the avatars which i didn' t think of would do it too- he pointed that out quick

The internet can be accessed from just about anywhere these days and they fire you for that. What are you under 21 years of age? If your doing your job, who is to tell you what you can look at?

What exactly is the policy? You can't use the internet for non-work related stuff even during breaks, or you're not allowed to type certain words?

Some companies are extremely strict when it comes to this and even go as far as to say that by you using their systems to surf material unrelated to work, you have indirectly wasted company resources (bandwidth), even if during lunch, that can be measured as a monetary loss over the long run substantiating termination.
If I were you, I would first apply for unemployment since you did get terminated, hopefully they'll be nice enough to allow it to process (You got terminated for internet misconduct, so it might be a stretch, but it can't hurt to try). If you start getting some of that, dig up the old company manual on regulations regarding computer usage and take it to a good lawyer that can spend a few days dissecting it. If he manages to find a loophole around the rules that can validate a suit, consider it. Sometimes, a settlement or your old job can be attained in the process..
If you don't want the hassle, just collect the unemployment (if you get it) and simply pick up a meager odd job in the meantime to supplement the unemployment income and to hopefully make ends meet until a month from now when you have another job with similar compensation.

That would be the equivalent of a company rule saying you can't use your telephone to make a non work-related call, since it "wastes company resources". While these types of rules may be necessary for young clock-punchers, I can't believe a company would think they could place such restrictions on college-educated professionals and manage to attract or retain talent... most people would find someplace else to work.

And they for those that don't know are a military based company- they have personal info on fbi agents, 5 star generals, dea agents, shawn ray... wait ot him... But they have a lot of confidential info we can view and its possible to be hacked i guess.

Talking about steroids on the board on my breaks- i stated i never took them.... I don't know exactly what they pin pointed, like i said i was on getbig everyday since the start of this BB season. I mean the shit on here is funny and there actually is good advice in some cases. I worked in the industry of BB and supplements from the age of 14 and to me BB, steroids, a chic- not Bob in posing gear isn't porn...

Well mysapce, youtube, even msn entertainment, magazine sites like spin or maxim are all blocked- there are a lot of blocked sites- during the whole time they ever blocked here even after they made the decision obviously becuase I was on here before I went downstairs

"Big Brother" tactics like these are very popular at publicly-traded fortune-500 type companies. Not so much with smaller and medium-sized companies, especially when privately held.

What could have sparked it is that i was submitted for a promotion in my current dept and the processing for the new job.. Somewhere along the lines they could have checked my internet habits ???
The appeal is if you feel the accusations were false- I just see myself saying "I wasn't looking at porn" then they pull up a screen shot of one of the times i clicked on caption this and it wasn't a Vince and Billy posedown or something... Either way the worst is they say no...

I worked for USAA, they are the main supplier for the military, gov't, etc for banking, investing insurance (all types)- so we have access to any and all members there account numbers, ssns, address, you name it

Sorry to hear that. But, Next time keep the bbing mags at home. I know it sounds stupid, but my mother had always told me, if some reading material people can find offensive (i.e.Maxim, FHM, MD, even Muscle and Fitness) then leave it at home. You never know ,and I have worked in environments with mostly women, so I only bring car magazines or a newspaper. One time I brought an XXL magazine that had women in swimsuits, some women asked me what I was doing with it. But the women in XXL were wearing the same stuff that was in this woman's Victoria's Secret catalog...I knew right then, there was a double standard, so no more of that material.
I have started not viewing getbig at work at all, just so no coworkers might "stumble" upon some crazy material that can be used against me.
