I do a lot of Close Grip bench for the Triceps, today was the first time I feelt a burn in my pects after doing close grip, the pain/burn is on the outer pecs.
I haven't changed anything.
-
its more that i feel the burn in my shoulders doing that excersize and i hate that.

keep your elbows pointed downwards not out to the sides.

All joke aside, I seriously do that, iI keep them so close to the body and slowly lower the weight.
-
I feel like my elbows will explode doing close grips

How heavy you go?
I do 90 kilos, that's about 190 lbs, like with everything else I force myself not to cheat.

don't know what to say other than maybe it's ok if you get a little bit of chest development from them, maybe try only lowering the weight half way and lock the weight out at the top very hard and squeeze your triceps, close grips really aren't a triceps PUMP movement as much as extensions and pushdowns but they're totally necessary in my book, not doing them is like skipping squats for legs IMO.

cool down bro, I'm sure a mod is going to move it soon.
-
i dissagree that close grips are totaly necessary, u can get just as much development from skull crushers or dips
-
my favorite triceps exercise, my tris explode and are sore and cramping for the next two days.
-
my shoulders are prolly to big for this excersize.
-
My chest gets pretty sore from close grips too. I mostly attribute this to the fact that I do very little direct chest work. It never really happened to me when I was BBing. I use heavy JM presses mostly. Close grips are good but I really feel it in the triceps when JM pressing.

I find medium weight & more reps work better.

i believe working out with fairly heavy weights for high reps works best...but i work out with every rep-range from 4 - 40 reps, to use as much muscle fibers as possible.

Are you from Iowa or something? That's like the fifth time I've seen you reference different cities that nobody else outside of the state would know off the top of their head.

Settle down Bisping Jr.
The only exercises that really make my chest feel like it's going to explode are Gironda Dips supersetted with Scott cable flies.
