The guy is the best player in baseball, and he probably will get close to that kind of money, but no one is worth that kind of money. The guy puts asses in the seats so he should get paid but not half a billion dollars.

by the time the MLB and NBA realize that guaranteed contracts arent good for the sport it will be too late.
not saying the NFL is doing it right, the NFL needs to put a cap on rookie contracts

Yea I agree. The top picks get far to much money when they have not proven a thing. Not to mention if a team makes a bad pick, or a kid turns into a bust they are screwed because of the huge contract for the top guys.

A-Rod is a great player and a surefure HoFer, but let's get real here...he's a prima donna who is wayyyy overrated.  He's worth a lot, but not as much as he's asking for.  If he didn't suck such shit as a post-season player I'd think he might actually be worth what he's being paid right now.

Let's face it, if you get a high pick, it's more than  likely your team sucks. Which means you need help....not someone to come in, unproven and eating up all your cap space.  ::)
