Henderson did something like 705 raw, Scott Mendelson holds the raw record with 715 and yes Clark did his 800 shirted at the 97 Arnold Classic.
-
henderson hit 714, but i think he could have nailed 750 if he kept with it. he had the most absurd bench ever because it was completely flat backed.
and yeah, clark was equipped. he was the first shirt technician, he's the one that figured out that a reverse-grip helped your elbows tuck so he could touch heavier weights and get more of an arch. of course, that grip is now illegal because people dropped the bar on their faces. keep in mind, though, this was 1996/1997. they had denims, but nothing like now.
SF, just you wait. Hoornstra's gonna break the record as a 242 and it's going to be incredible. the man is inhuman.

yeah Hoornstra's a beast.

it's kinda funny. when you look at the unequipped or barely-equipped guys, once you hit the 242 area there isn't much added strength when they go heavier. konsti's 948 pull in the 275s isn't much under Bolton's 1003, but there's a 100+ pound difference between the two of them. hoornstra can raw bench almost as much as mendy despite weighing about 75 pounds less. the same thing happens with squatting, though i don't have the numbers off hand.
-
thanx 4 the info folks

how old was he when he died?

But Andy can pull 949 whereas Konsti can't.

yes he can, if not now than soon.
-
yes he can, if not now than soon.
But as he doesn't have it on record we'll assume that he can't
My post was a tongue in cheek response to MisterMagoo who said the Konsti lift of 948 is not much under the 1003 of Bolton. While 55 pounds doesn't seem a lot, it's a an enormous difference when you consider that an increase of 1lb is beyond Konsti's reach at the moment.
-
So I was watchin wrasslin the other day and noticed that I haven't seen Dino Bravo, the Von Erichs, Ravishing Rick Rude, Andre the Giant or Eddie Guerrero lately.
They sure ain't been wrasslin much? What gives?
-
He had a pacemaker put in long before the time of his death.

true, but my point is that konsti competes as a 275 while andy is firmly planted in the SHWs. if he had pulled his 948 six months earlier than he did he would have had the world record. that's phenomenal for someone two weight classes under the heaviest guys to be in the running for the all time record.

what do you think Benni and Bolton would pull with a regular bar instead of the funny bar, Magoo?

benni's would hardly change. when he hit the 936 (or whatever it was) in the gym for that icelandic show it was with an IPF bar that had no real bend to it. i don't know what kind of bar he had for his 970 pull. bolton it's hard to say. the dude's definitely a powerhouse, but for all i know he's so used to the more wobbly WPO bar that it'd knock 100 pounds off.
