And this man wants to president? lol . . . . Bring back Al Sharpton. . . .
Dennis Kucinich's UFO Comments Prove He's Nuts
Wednesday, October 31, 2007
By John Gibson
Now I know he's not going to be president, so there is an argument for not giving Dennis Kucinich a kick in the pants. But, with apologies to the congressman in advance, I'm afraid I must.
About 24 hours after Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich pronounced President Bush crazy for even thinking there might have to be war with Iran, the Ohio congressman was asked if, in fact, while visiting with Shirley MacLaine he had actually seen a UFO.
Click here to watch Kucinich's response.
Remember: This is a guy who feels free to say Bush is crazy one day and admit something the next day that many, if not most, people think proves a person is crazy.
If you've seen UFOs you probably shouldn't go around calling other people nuts. If you admit to seeing a UFO, martians, space creatures, big foot and all the rest, you are by definition on the defensive against a charge of craziness.
The congressman doesn't eat meat. Perhaps that is an explanation.
And the rest of you who have seen UFOs, please don't send angry e-mails. It's not going to make any difference -- I'll still think y'all are crazy.
Oh, and by the way, it isn't just Bush who thinks we might be forced into conflict with Iran. The French president said so publicly at his U.N. speech a couple months ago. And even Muslim states are recognizing this might be reality.
It's bad, but it's not crazy. However, now we know who actually is crazy.
That's My Word.

An ex-President admitted yesterday he saw an object flying, which changed color, which he could not identify.
By it's definition, it was unidentified, it was flying, and it was an object. Carter saw a UFO too.
While I don't believe in them, thousands of people have witnessed them. The Mexican, French, and several European nations have released videos of unidentified things in the air they cannot identify. I don't consider them crazy. And I don't consider Kucinich crazy. He saw something flying, he didn't know what it was. Period. If that makes him nuts in your opinion, so be it. But there are a lot of people in the military or NASA who have seen unidentified things in the air. I wouldn't disrespect them by referring to them as nuts.
Kucinich is a little nuts, but not because he saw something he couldn't identify.
-
I think most people probably use the term UFOs to refer to alien spacecraft. That makes Kucinich a nut.

Funny how I missed your thread saying Reagan was Nuts...
""I was in a plane last week when I looked out the window and saw this white light. It was zigzagging around. I went up to the pilot and said, "Have you ever seen anything like that?" He was shocked and he said, "Nope." And I said to him: "Let's follow it!" We followed it for several minutes. It was a bright white light. We followed it to Bakersfield, and all of a sudden to our utter amazement it went straight up into the heavens. When I got off the plane I told Nancy all about it."--Reagan
Reagan went on several times to talk of alien threats from other worlds...
If you're going to proclaim someone nuts over their personal experiences, the least you can do is review some compelling evidence.
Watch this documentary, you won't regret it, it's the best case I've seen yet and this is a well done examination of it...

I still think there's better reasons to call him nuts.
It's so hard to take the guy seriously :-\

It's wrong on so many levels, but I can't get past the fact he looks a little like Hitler.
There are far better reasons a rightwinger has to call him nuts; jumping on the ufo story like it's their ah-ha moment for Dennis... ::) Like the guy ever had a shot in hell before this. Hell, he probably got a jump after the UFO statement.

I will check out the video, but I fail to see what my failure to create a thread poking fun at a deceased Ronald Reagan has to with a looney bird that's currently running for president. The fact Reagan apparently once talked about strange lights or alien invasions doesn't make Kucinich any less of a nut. But hey Bill Cosby really likes the guy.
And I'm not the only one calling him nuts. John Gibson thinks so too. :)
-
What I find more disturbing is that he doesn't eat me!
A president that doesn't eat meat? WTF? Is this a joke? ???

but does it make Reagan a nut?
John Gibson ::) haha... a guy that thinks everyone on the left is nuts... monster credibility...

If he was concerned about alien invasions, then yes. But what does that have to do with Kucinich?
John Gibson may or may not lack credibility, but he's right about Kucinich.

It would have been nuts of you to say otherwise... Just got you on the record as saying Reagan was a nut. I'll gladly concede Kucinich for that quote ;D
The statement carries no weight from Gibson since he thinks most dems are nuts.
and in the end, I don't believe it's nuts to witness something unworldly... It's really more nuts to shut yourmind off from everything that you consider real... It's so... "the world is flat and young" middle ages establishment :D

lol. Oh is this another "gotcha" moment? lol. Reagan was a nut if he was worried about alien invasions. There. I said it again. lol . . . .
Gibson's opinion that Kucinich is a nut doesn't need to carry any weight. That said, he's right: anyone running for president who claims to have seen an alien spaceship is a nut.

come to think of it, it's a dem win win on this one... The right spent a lot of time downing a guy who has no chances anyway and they went out on a limb that drags Reagan down with... Kucinich!?!? LOL big time...

I don't think a 257 word essay by Gibson is a "lot of time" and he isn't "the right." He's just a commentator.
And he's right. :)

I was refering to the greater rightwing talk machine... There was a pretty decent amount of time by all spent on him. Any time spent on someone who has no chances is well... kind of funny.

There are a number of candidates who have no chance of winning, including Kucinich, Ron Paul, McCain, etc. If any one of them says something nutty, we should talk about it . . . and laugh at them.

Not that there's anything wrong being a vegetarian. :) He gives vegetarians a bad name.

He saw something he couldn't identify flying in the air, hence the unidentified flying object statement.
But wait, Beach Bum says that that means flying saucer b/c that's what the majority believes it to mean.
Not me. "Unidentified flying object" means unidentified flying object...not ET or Darth Vader.
But this is how the right wing hit machine works--take any a statement (especially one like this) and just run with it for as far as you can go.
Frankly, I'm more worried about Guiliani's almost congenital lying. After all, he has a great chance of becoming the republican nominee (while Kucinich is a footnote on the dem side) and he cannot stop spouting lies.
He is a serial liar--from his role in 9/11 to his relationship with Bernard (made guy) Kerik, to his recent bald-faced lies about universal care in England.
This guy is dangerous and not in the good way.
As for Kucinich, I would wager that he's as rational as any of us.
-
Beach Bum,
Shame on you for disrespecting Ronald Reagan like this.
They used to have a word for people that didn't like Reagan.
C O M M __ N I S T
Would U like to buy a vowel, Beach Bum?

Yes I believe the term UFO has denotative and connotative meanings. And yes I think when most people use the term UFO they are using its connotative meaning (i.e., alien spacecraft).
I'm only half joking about Kucinich. He could have very well have been referring to an "unidentified flying object" and not an alien spaceship, but I won't give him the benefit of the doubt. :) He's a screwball. :D
Even if he is as sane as the rest of us, he's not very smart. If you are running for president you don't tell the media you have seen a UFO.
-
If you are running for president you don't tell the media you have seen a UFO.
A woman wrote about it in a book, and mentioned him. Russert asked him about the quote from the woman.
Should he have lied to the media? Should he have dodged the Q? He saw something in the sky that he could not identify. It's happened to two of our former presidents. I guess they're nuts too, huh? Maybe the whole world is nuts except you, huh BB?

Is that something you want to happen :o :-\

I think most people probably use the term UFOs to refer to alien spacecraft. That makes Kucinich a nut.
He specified it was an UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT. Your assumptions are far from the truth and you lack evidence to back any of your claims.
-
Kucinich is not the first presidential aspirant to report seeing a UFO.
According to numerous media accounts, when Jimmy Carter was governor of Georgia in 1973, he filed a report with the International UFO Bureau in Oklahoma City claiming that he'd seen an unidentified glowing object four years earlier in Leary, Ga. He said later that he did not believe the object to be an alien craft, and some "ufologists," as specialists call themselves, think he saw a halo around the planet Venus.
Ronald Reagan believed he had seen UFOs at least twice -- once on the coast while driving to Hollywood with his wife, Nancy, and once, as governor of California, while flying on a plane near Bakersfield. In "Landslide," their 1988 book about Reagan's second term, journalists Doyle McManus, The Times' Washington bureau chief, and Jane Mayer, now of the New Yorker, wrote that Reagan's staff worked hard to keep the UFO sighting stories under wraps
-
He specified it was an UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT. Your assumptions are far from the truth and you lack evidence to back any of your claims.
Yes he did specifically say "unidentified flying object." Still, I like my assumption. He does not get the benefit of the doubt.
What evidence and claims are you talking about?

How about responding to the question
Should he have lied or dodged the question (like you're doing?)
What's so shameful about admitting that he witnessed something that he can't explain?
There are literally hundreds of credible witnesses, including military and commericial pilots, astronauts, etc... who have witnessed things that they cannot explain.
You can find lot's of them here: http://www.disclosureproject.org/

How about I don't feel like responding to the question? Does that bother you?
I'm sure there are hundreds of "credible witnesses" who have seen things they cannot explain. Big deal. I doubt there is any "credible witness" who has seen an alien spaceship, or Big Foot, or the Loch Ness Monster, etc., etc.

If you doubt there are credible witnesses to unidentified aerial phenomena then you've either never looked at the evidence or you're just really really stupid ..... or worst case - BOTH
For the record Kucinich did not say he saw an alien spacecraft
You're the one who said it and then ridiculed him for YOUR WORDS.
Given the fact that you have a "personal relationship" with a figment of your imagination you're the last person that should be making fun of anyone for anything

Back for your monthly flogging? :)
Have you been smoking today Forrest Gump? I said "I doubt there is any 'credible witness' who has seen an alien spaceship, or Big Foot, or the Loch Ness Monster, etc., etc." Did you miss that part? Are you in a smoke-filled room? Is this the day you periodically smoke marijuana?
I will continue to ridicule Kucinich. It's so easy to do. :)

This has been explained to you by others so I doubt you'll understand it this time
Unidentified means UNIDENTIFIED
What you've done is decide to Indentify it as ALIEN SPACE CRAFT and then decided that that conclusion is ridiculous and worthy of your ridicule.
When called on this you avoided direct debate on the topic at hand and personally attacked the messenger.
It would be interesting if some day you would grow up and engage in an actual dialogue rather than acting like a little pussy and constantly running away rather than having to explain and defend your own statements.
-
You're the one who said it and then ridiculed him for YOUR WORDS.
You nailed it perfectly.
The best part was this line:
How about I don't feel like responding to the question?
In a thread that HE started to attack someone using lies, he doesn't want to answer the questions we have. Classic getbig self-pwnage right there.

Aw. He's getting frustrated again. :)
Just to clarify, I posted a story by someone else who called Kucinich nuts and agreed with that assessment. I understand that people who smoke marijuana can have problems concentrating and/or following discussions. Why don't you check back in when you've come down off your high and it might be a tad clearer.

Bum,
1. It's perfecty reasonable to get frustrated with someone who constantly dodges questions and is incapable of defending or explaining their own position. It kind of defeats the purpose of a DISCUSSION BOARD
2. What does smoking pot have to do with THIS TOPIC?
3. Why would someone who has admitted they can't understand elementary school math (YOU in case you've forgotten) think they should be taken seriously in a conversation among adults?
-

Very strange that a great board like "Politics" should have to suffer from poor leadership. This 'beach bum' character represents the far-right republican mindset here on GetBig.

1. No it isn't. This isn't real life. This is entertainment, some fun, some good discussion, some flaming, etc. I find it absolutely hilarious how worked up people like you get over a message board.
2. You are having trouble following the discussion, so I assume that is related to the fact you smoke marijuana. I could be wrong. But I doubt it.
3. Me and math don't get along. There is a reason why I didn't go to engineering school. I just hire people to do it for me. :) I'm also a terrible speller, can't dance, can't sing . . . for whatever that's worth.

I have no problem with any mindset as long as that person is capable of engaging in actual dialogue about their own statements or beliefs
Bum has proven time after time that when challenged on something he has said that he either dodges the question, rolls his eyes or engages in a personal attack
He would literally be laughed off a middle school debate team with the shit he pulls on this site
-
2. You are having trouble following the discussion
He writes this after attempting multiple times to change the subject, then saying he didn't want to answer the question. Then, he decides to use yet another personal attack:
so I assume that is related to the fact you smoke marijuana. I could be wrong. But I doubt it.

Ok to summarize - you admit you're not that bright (not big news to anyone here) and you're mostly here to waste time - yours and other people
Fair enough - thanks for making that clear

No problem mang. :) I'm just an average Joe. I've always admitted that. I'm mostly here for entertainment not necessarily to waste time, although exchanges with you are borderline time wasters. People who work hard, like many of the people who post here, don't necessarily want to come here for "heavy thinking," but that does happen on occasion. I find it very entertaining. Some folks with whacked priorities try and make it more important than it really is. But that's their problem. I'm having a good time. :)
Glad I could help.
-
I'm just an average Joe. I've always admitted that.
Don't kid yourself - you're well below the average Joe and you know it.

lol. Ooh you got me. I'm right at the Mendoza line. But one thing I know is I'm quite comfortable in my skin and I don't let nameless internet dummies dictate my emotions, how I feel, etc. You should take note. Repeat after me: this is only a message board.

I'm only half joking about Kucinich.
Even if he is as sane as the rest of us, he's not very smart.
Dennis Kucinich has a MA in Speech & Communications.
I'm a republican, but you're just putting bad info out there. He has odd ideas, and he's quirky, but he's smart.
-

What's the evidence? His statement that he saw a UFO? The clip says it was spacecraft that hovered over the ground. It was a moving experience. lol.
He said he saw a UFO. I assume he believed that UFO was an alien spacecraft.
lol . . . I'm sorry. I can't even type this with a straight face. :D

Bum - you're a self proclaimed dimwit. Why would you think I would care about your opinion about anything?
All this conversation proves is that it's pointless to treat you like an adult and engage you in any kind of dialogue

He was smart enough to get a graduate degree and get elected to the House, but two of the things he has done recently show (to me anyway) that a person can be educated still be lolo. First was his refusal to meet with the troops and criticizing the president while on foreign soil, while running for commander in chief. Second was saying he saw an alien spaceship while running for president. That's beyond quirky IMO.

What this conversation shows is I do not have a very high opinion of your ability to follow a discussion, which is why you and I never have serious exchanges.
And given that you don't care about my opinion, you should really stop asking for my opinion, unless you simply enjoy providing such great theater for me. :)

Nice to have you here, champ. I encourage you to continue speaking your mind.
-
so, george bush saw yellow cake and weapons of mass destruction...about as provable as a UFO sighting at this point...and he got reelected.
-
youre a fuccking idiot.
he never said e saw an alien spaceship.
youre an incompetent clod.
Here is what he said:
The "serious" question was prompted by actress Shirley MacLaine's new book, in which she writes that Kucinich had spotted a UFO over her home in Washington state and "found the encounter extremely moving... It was a triangular craft silent and hovering,'' she wrote, and Kucinich "felt a connection'' in his heart and "heard direction'' in his mind.
"I did,''' Kucinich said to the question of whether he had seen a UFO.
As for "the rest of the account,'' he said, "I didn't.
"It's unidentified. I saw something,'' he said. "Also, you have to keep in mind that more -- that Jimmy Carter saw a UFO -- and also that more people in this country have seen UFOs than, I think, approve of George Bush's presidency.''
http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2007/10/kucinichs_ufo_and_that_questio.html
I cannot type this without laughing. :) I guess it's possible that the "triangular craft silent and hovering" wasn't an alien spaceship and the "connection " and "direction" was because he actually saw a silent hovering helicopter or something. lol . . . . But I choose to believe he was talking about little green men. That's certainly what it sounds like to me.
I should create a Dennis Kucinich appreciation thread. :)
-
But I choose to believe he was talking about....
you're creating a reality that doesn't exist here.
you're a lazy sheep who is fcked in the head, and you're making up alternative realities now.

High-ranking Democratic Rep. Alcee Hastings, who was himself impeached while a judge in Florida, said he was not happy with Kucinich's attempts to raise the matter on the floor in an attempt to circumvent the normal legislative process.
Kucinich "is on a quest of his own. He sees flying saucers and he acts like one," Hastings said.

Dems are pissed because he hijacked procedure and as usual they form a circular firing squad.
Dems suck - Repugs suck more
The only funny thing (in the tragic sense) is how much of the US population probably agrees with Kucinich

It's really a dumb move. He should have targeted the person who actually made the decision (Bush), but he probably knew that couldn't get off the ground.

I'm sure he knew it was pointless and probably did it just for publicity and/or to satisfy his supporters. Congress has done nothing anyway this year so I say who cares if they waste a bit of time on this.

Who is Kucinich's target demographic for the primary? Far left democrats who despise Cheney.
For his political campaign, this was a brilliant move. Everyone knows it's a foregone conclusion. But it's 6 weeks from New hampshire primary (if they indeed hold it week before christmas) and the nation is talking about HIM, not hilary or obama or edwards.
Good move for his campaign, you can't deny that.

Good point.
I was looking at it from a more practical standpoint, i.e., whether it will pass or fail. But cannot deny that it will improve his standing with the leftwing parts of the party.

He's a fringe candidate. Maybe he wants to be an Ohio senator or something down the road. Just like Richardson (NM gov) and even Obama (likely will run for IL governorship).

So anybody who speaks about or shows an interest in UFO's or extra terrestrial life is nuts?
