by far the most underrated qb in the game today
he is second to brady in td's, who is having the best year ever
where are all the people who last year said he sucked or that his accident had no affect?

too bad the Browns are gonna win the division ;)

Credit where credit is due. Big Ben is having a great year. Yes he is underrated.

just messing around. Ben's a top 10 qb. On a side note I hope the Browns sneak in as a wild card.

he is right behind brady and manning this year
heck he has more td's than manning

Ben only plays lights out when he is ahead. Heaven for bid he has to bring his team back from behind.

Vince Young, Brett Favre, Tony Romo, Jeff Garcia, Carson Palmer, Derek Anderson, etc.
These guys can probably match or exceed Big Ben's Super Bowl numbers pretty easily too ;)

I would take ben over all of them and ben has a better resume than all except favre

What resume? That he is a Super Bowl champ?
9 for 21 for 123 yards and a couple of picks?
Sounds like his team won in spite of him.

well he led the team to a 15-1 record as a rookie, won the super bowl his 2nd year and was clearly our team mvp aside from the super bowl and is 2nd in td's this year
now why don't you tell me what those other guys on your list (besides favre) have done that is more impressive ::)

Larry Foote, Lemar Woodley and Jeremy Tuman should be cut or give back their game checks

You give any of the above players I mentioned the running game and defense that Ben has had and still has, and they would do better.

Give Braylon back. I know all Browns fans hate him

Tom finally just got some good recievers this year. Brady was a hall of fame player throwing to "sub par" recievers for his whole career. Not only that Tom has had four different sets of recievers since he started playing. Last year Brady was throwing to Reche Caldwell as his number one. Caldwell cant even crack the roster on the redskins starting team. Brady has proven that he elevates the play of the people he is throwing to, that cannot be disputed. Ben is not as good as Brady or Manning IMO. But when it is all said and done those two will be remembered as two of the best ever if not the best ever to play the position.
That said I dont agree with anyone who says Ben is not a good qb. Ben proved today that is far from true. He has been proving himself all year. I think Ben is a very good qb , and the steelers are a legit threat for the sb this year. There is no one better at making accurate throws on the run this year then big Ben. Not favre , not Romo. Ben is very mobile for a guy his size, tough and accurate on the move. Ben is a leader and shows great emotion on the field.
Thats how I see it anyway. I would take Ben over Romo, Anderson, Favre or Young any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
-

You can have him. If you guys can use this game as a barometer, so be it. I've seen him suck too many times.
I guess when his team had the #1 defense and rushed for almost 300 yards, Big Ben was beating them with his arm.
Play-action has made a career for Big Ben.

I see your point... But could the same be said for Romo? It's not like Tony is throwing to scrubs , and playing on a team with no defense. I think Ben is a good qb. Im not saying he is a top teir qb. But to call him mediocere is a stretch IMO.
I have watched Ben play this year , and I think he is playing very good football. His mobility and accuracy on the run is very impressive considering how large he is.

I'm not saying Ben is a bad quarterback. I just think he lacks some intangibles that shows he could put his team on his back and win.
That being said, he could turn out to be a great quarterback. He's still young and learning. But right now, I just think he is ok.

well today he scored when it counted against browns,he ran a 30 yard touchdown and orchestraded 2 key drives to put them ahead.great game and browns have good team.

Big Ben had a quarterback rating of like -10 in the Super Bowl. He really shows up for the big games ::)
-
His ability to shuck tacklers allows his receivers to get open. This has been a boon, and a curse. I saw Gil Castillo roll up on Ben's knees because he refused to go down. His ability to stretch out the pocket, and make plays is what makes him special. Any other second year QBs led their team to the SB. He had a lights out game against the Dolts, and Broncos preceding the SB. He has looked stellar this year because he is healthy, and happy. I hope Bruce gives Ben a little more decision making ability.
Silverback is DA MAN. Another undrafted free agent on his way to the pro bowl. Simmons siging makes me roll my eyes. Kemoatu should be given a chance. He is nasty by nature, and has the typical Sole strength, power and athleticism.
BTW, Here we go Stillers, here we go!

you must have missed the awesome performances he had against the colts, broncos, and bengals in those playoffs

we went 8-8 in the brutal afc after our STAR QB had a motorcycle accident, appendectomy, and concussion
how do you not "jump on his jock" when he is the youngest qb to ever win the super bowl, greatest rookie qb ever and after his truama is now a pro bowl qb?
what more do you want?

Nothing. I just said he wasn't the type of quarterback that I would feel comfortable putting my team on his back and carrying it in the tough times right now.
I even said he still might turn into an elite qb. You are the one taking it all personally. Sorry to hurt your feelings Earl Roethlisberger.

not many qb's have won a super bowl, he did it already and it's only his 4th year, 3rd if you don't count last year when he had many unfortunate accidents :)

True. But so did Trent Dilfer so it must not be too hard to win with a great running game and defense.

Ben carried you guys? Yeah, that defense and running game was terrible ::)
This will be Romo's second Pro Bowl in two years. That doesn't make him elite yet.
Ben is barely getting the whole offence opened up to him this year. What does that tell you about his QBing skills of the past?

you clearly didn't watch the playoffs that year, typical sportscenter highlights or reads the stats in the paper only type of guy and then tries to come off as some expert ::)
romo would have ZERO pro bowls if he played in the afc, he made it last year only because espn likes to hype up the cowboys
cowher was a pussy and wanted to run a conservative game, if you knew anything about the steelers (you know nothing ::)) you would know that we didn't win the super bowl until we opened up our offense in the playoffs
15- 1 as a rookie, superbowl his 2nd year, pro bowl in what is truly his 3rd year
keep ignoring those facts, it's funny how you think it's some strange coincidence we've had our two best teams since 1979 once ben showed up, we would've done the same with kordell stewart or tommy maddox ::)

if I ignored the facts about ben last year I would be ignoring that he had a motorcycle accident, concussion and appendectomy
15-1 as a rookie, super bowl champ in 2nd year, 3rd year was bad, 4th year pro bowl and possibly more
what year looks like an abberation to you? ::)
as for the super bowl hahaha apparently you've never seen the nfl rule book where it clearly states holding and pushing off isn't allowed hahahaha
it should also mention that big mouth tight ends shouldn't drop 4 passes when they are wide open hahahaha ;D
you are proving more and more how bitter you are about us owning that fraud "america's team" back in the 70's and you know that O'donnel was paid off by jerry jones in 96 :P

You are too much. I just put in that last sentence cause I knew you would get all heated.
This year looks like the abberation to me.
And that Steelers owning the Cowboys in 70's line really hurt ::)

I hate the Cowboys and Cowboys fans, especially. Most of them are obnoxious and annoying.
LOTS and LOTS of NFL fans jumped on the Troy, Emmitt, Michael Cowboys era in the early 90's. Fans literally came out of the woodwork here in Baltimore and world wide. Every where you went their fanbase grew exponentially while the Cowboys' franchise experienced their greatest success.
Then Troy retires. Then Michael retires. And lastly, Emmitt. For about 5 years you didn't hear DIDLEY SQUAT from Cowboys fans until last year.
Typical fans who stand by their team when they are winning and fast to jump ship when the transition into bad years becomes imminent.
-
IMO the top 5 QB's right now
1- Brady
2-Manning
3-Ben
4-Favre
5-Romo

There will always be people who bandwagon on any team that is winning. And annoying fans are nothing new to the pro sports. Raiders, Lakers, Cowboys, Eagles, Red Sox and Patriots are the worst in my opinion. But I can't help that and I never said anything about how great the Cowboys were in this thread, I just said Ben was overrated since from the time he got to Pittsburg he was only working with half a field and relied on a running game and play-action to succeed. He never really demonstrated until this year that he could improvise and win a game by his arm when the running game is failing.
We'll see how the rest of the season goes with him.
-
I gotta say this:
Cool sounding name at least.
-
Steelers looked real good today ;)
-
Ben is an above average qb. he depends more on his team more than his team depends on him, unlike Brady, Manning and Romo. Favre is the same way. imo Big Ben is second tier easily. you cant lose to the Jets, Broncos and Cards with that defense and persistant run game and be considered elite.
i do think he is a franchise qb, in that if you draft decently and have a top ten d he can lead his team to the playoffs.
-

persistant run game ???
we couldn't run the ball against any of those teams and the broncos and jets were ranked last in the league against the rush
our line is terrible, the jets had 9 sacks all year, 7 YESTERDAY :o :o :o :o
I tremble thinking what this line would do with tommy maddox back there, ben is great at avoiding sacks
alan faneca doesn't deserve another nickel from us and sean mahan is no jeff hartings
we laid a major egg yesterday :-[

i guess you would know i wasnt able to watch the game yesterday. i had no idea Ben was sacked 7 times...geez.
and by persistant i meant in general the Steelers are devoted to the run more than most teams.
they perfromed so well last week, Ben showed some major mobility, although that was against the Ravens.
that was a GREAT HIT HInes Ward had last week!!!!!!!! that was a STICK!

The Offensive line has been pissing me off lately, seems Ben always has to escape defenders if he wants to make a play. Give him the line of Indy, New England or Dallas and he would be unquestionably top 3 QB in the league.

Since a guy is having a historic year you want him to go out like thiesmen? Why would you wish injury on anyone for being a great player? How about Big Ben? Should I wish injury on him since he is playing at a very high level. Having played the game I would never wish injury on even the most hated of rivals.
The pats defensive line makes the jets line (who cut you up) look like a jv squad. Hopefully big Ben does not suffer the fate you are wishing on others.
I wouldent be wishing career enders on others. Any line that allowes the NYJ to sack there qb seven times would worry me.

I never liked Brady, Drew Bledsoe should have been the starter when they won that first one. Either way Big Ben can hold his own and he isn't going to get owned by a bunch of over the hill linebackers.

Mike Vrabel is one of the best linebackers in the NFL this year. You do know he is having a huge year correct? On both sides of the ball. He plays offensive snaps to. AD had three sacks last night. AD is a monster. Colvin is not over the hill, he is having a great year. The pats use vet lb by design because of the system. The pats d has been top five all year. Vs better offensive opponents the the steelers.
The pats d is just as good as the steelers. Look at the offenses the pats have faced vs the steelers.
The pats offensive line has a average age of 27. Warren Wilfork and Seymour are the best d line in football. Toss in Green and Wright as backups who can start on any team in this leauge. Youth and depth makes up that line.
If the jets can beat up on the steelers I would think anyone can.

I am not saying their linbackers suck but just that Big Ben will not have a problem getting away from them, they won't be getting clean hits off on him.

I think that is bens best attribute. He is a big strong dude that can really move. Very accurate on the move. Personally I think Ben is a great qb.
I dont want any injuries on either side. Just a competative football game. Thats just me though.
-
Big Ben will be flustered against the Pats Scheme.
Pitts D will bend but not break, problem will be that they will start to bend in the 2nd quarter and it will last till the 4th.
Pat will win the SB.
