I have dieted down from 285 to 232 ( I'm 238 in these pictures but I was full of carbs and water ). I would like some estimates at what my body fat percentage is. I'm looking to get down to at least 210 this winter and see how I look, you can check out my training journal on MD if you're interested: http://forums.musculardevelopment.com/showthread.php?t=16612
Also I'm 6'3'' which I'm sure is important for you to know in order to estimate my BF%.

I spy....
a pile of clothes I hadn't put in my laundry bag yet
a sock that i just took off
and my girlfriend's laundry bag
be nice :(

Low 20's?
Hard to say, but that would be my guesstimate.
FWIW, normal BF for a male is supposed to be around 18-21.

Interesting, what percentage do you think I'd have to be to show abs? 10 percent?
-
my guess is 18.6% !! ;)
for abs to show? yeah maybe round 10 or so
285 to 232 is good, how does it feel? must feel a lot lighter these days huh? feel free to put a journal up on here if you like, we got a sub board for it
-
12% you can START to see the outline of abs relaxed. Based on your pictures you're about 180l lean mass so that would put you some where in the 20% BF range. An important thing to remember is that the more muscle mass you have, the quicker your metabolism, the easier it is to shed some fat. Keep lifting hard and focus your diet on gaining lean mass and you'll see that the fat comes off as a side effect. Your goal of 210lbs is VERY attainable and you should start to see a little definition in your abdomen by then. Keep in mind that every % you lose below 12 gets your more and more peeled looking, that's when it starts to get fun!

Feels great. I feel much more comfortable on my bicycle ( my main hobby ) and feel a lot more comfortable just walking around. My mom and dad thought I might have gotten into cocaine or something, that felt good to hear haha.
I might put up a journal on here and stop doing it on MD since nobody replies over there. Thanks.

13-15.
You're probably pretty close.
Also, it depends on where you store fat. Some guys tend to store fat mostly at the gut.
-
I store it in my gut, but even moreso in my ass and thighs. I have been told I have a "diaper ass" because it always looks like I'm wearing a diaper. I weighed in at 230 this morning, so it's going good, although I'm sick right now... Can't wait to post pictures at 225. Thanks guys.

BF % = 15%
Ink % = 67%
-
uh huh.

Do you even workout?
#1 response you don't want to see when posting your picture on an internet bodybuilding board.

I told my GF, she and I have been laughing hard at it. I need to find a way to incorporate this question into meeting new people at the gym.

good to see a guy with a sense of humor about his body..
good weight loss man. hit the weights harder though.

Great job on the weight loss. My non expert opinion guesstimates 18-20%. Keep hitting it hard though. And clean your house. ;D

It may not show but I've put on a pretty good amount of size. Would love to get much bigger, but losing fat is a way bigger priority for me right now.
Thanks for any kind words, losing weight is definitely one of the best things I've ever done, in terms of how I feel and the feeling of accomplishment.
-
You can tell you've been training - the chest is starting to take shape and so are the biceps - I would concentrate on putting on a little more size before you start worrying about bodyfat levels - nice progress so far nonethless. :)
Gotta mention the tats though - wtf? :-\

I'd say 12-15%. But almost impossible to honestly tell from pics.
Why don't you just go get it tested?
I would highly recommend that you go somewhere and have it tested. Be sure use the same person and same method to test in the future to measure your progress. It's the only way to get a consistent measurement.
Remember, it really doesn't matter what the number is. All that matters is that you make progress (lose fat and not muscle)! So consistency in testing is the key.
CONGRATULATIONS on losing all of that weight. I'm sure it wasn't easy. Keep up the good work man and stay focused!

Thanks!

congrats on the weight loss Rick.. 8)

that's great, i too actually lost a bunch of weight over the last year, from 250, down to 217. 40" waist to 34"...and i worked out like a beast so need to asume that i put some muscle on.
All in all Rick, it's a good job, now to keep it off, especially during the holidays.

Hey thanks. I'm not too worried about keeping the weight off. I've realized that my metabolism is actually pretty fast, I ate like shit for most of the summer and didn't gain back any weight. so my real challenge is just to stick to my diet so i can lose the weight i want to lose this winter, but i'm pretty confident. i'll post an update in here once i hit 220....

no less than 17
some of you guys clearly have no idea what 10% looks like
