13 years for me. Smoking was like getting on express train, but shit, if you wanted local stops. Easiest habit in the world to pick up. I smoked everywhere but the shower, cause I couldn't keep the cig. dry.
This is what I did: I did not tell anyone I was quitting. I didn't wait till I was on vacation, I did it while I was at work. (think about it, we are miserable sometimes at work anyway.) I did it day, by day.
After the first 72 hours, the physical craving is gone. After that its the psychological cravings. You need to figure out your "smoking cues".
I am not saying you need to stop any activities that you are doing, but you need to be aware of what triggers your smoking.
I started smoking cigs. were 75 cents a pack, and when I stopped they were $2.60. You will notice that you get less sore throats, etc...but the first few days will be like a cold.
Good Luck,
:-X

Cigarettes cost the equivalent of about 10 US dollars here. At least half of the price is taxes. The government making money off a highly addictive drug which causes severe health problems. I guess some of the tax revenue goes back into funding hospitals, which is where a lot of long term smokers end up.
-
I quit a year ago, cold turkey is the only way to go to tbh.

The government just taxes them more because they care about you and want you to stop. ::)
Just like alcohol.
I'm surprised they don't just make gear, weed, and other things legal.

Actually the government does has legal weed. They grow it for medical purposes like AIDS. I'm sure Leafy Slug knows about that.

I quit 4 years ago, was smoking since I was 16.... Quiting was the best thing ever, the only thing better was to leave my wife and to follow my dream of becoming a Pro Bodybuilder
-
Quitting is easy, after the first week, even easier after the first month. After smoking for 10 years, I got tired of giving the government more money, so I stopped. I wouldn't think of having a smoke today. It's great if you do and they're great if you're bored, but kind of a hassle in a way. Breathing is fun, but I'll always be a smoker at heart. Most anti-smoker fanatics are fags. And the whole "2nd hand smoke" thing is believable, if you believe in the tooth fairy too.

It's not easy for eveybody, Ciggies are as adictive as Heroin (mental not physicl) if you are in nature a person
that tend to get addiced to things you have a hard time stoping.
IF it would be so easy why are there millions of people who know sm,oking will lead to cancer and they cannot stop?
No my friend stoping is easy for some lucky once but very hard very very hard for the rest.

No, easy after the first few days. In general, it could be hard for some people. I quit using the patch for a week, then nothing. The first time I tried, I failed after half a day. I quit the next time.

I quit by setting a goal that I just wanted to go to bed once without having a ciggy, from one day became a week
than I forgot about smoking for the first time, with that I mean Ciggies weren't on my mind 24/7 anymore.
And yes after the 3 day or so it get's easier, but I don't drink I don't go out much, I lift and go to museums a lot... and I know a lot of people that went back smoking just because they were in the pub.

CIGARETTE AND ALCOHOL TOGETHER is like the biggest problem, for every glass of rum or vodka i drink, i smoke 3 cigarettes +-
i dont work for pfizer labs but after taking the first pill today, and smoking a cigarette later, i feel like shit lol, i guess this is the way to go!

Quitting cigarettes for people who are addicted to them is like SquadFatter working out or stopping his bullshit posts. It's just too hard to do.

Well you should know that this is not fully magic, you must have the decission to quit (like i do) smoking. A friend tried champix for 8 weeks and didnt work either, because, as he said, he didnt have "enough help".
Oh well i'll keep posting advances, maybe more getbig smokers will decide to try it, if they see results here :)

;D
Removed that cigarette in place of a donut and you have the beginings of lonelyme on the road to despair.

DAY #4 and these pills are working just great and for only 40 bucks.
Honestly, these pills seems to be the solution for hardcore smokers, im smoking no more than 10 cigarettes since i started, when it used to be 1 pack and a half/day

Chantix was, IMO, rushed through the FDA to quickly. First, it's effectiveness over a year is not all that great; 80-85% failure rate. Second, there have been some side-effects reported by people that they were not warned against and they are occuring often enough that I don't think it is a placebo, particularly joint & muscle pains. Here's 54 pages of people talking about it

Good luck with stopping the cancers.
I love to smoke but I'm keeping it minimal - 3-5 cigs a day.

If I had been able to keep my usage to 3 to 5 cigs., I would have kept smoking. Unfortunately for me 1 was too many, and 1000 was not enough.... ;)

Good Luck! I've had two friends that have found success by running. Everytime they wanted a cig they ran the shit out of themselves. If they were at work they would run the stairs for 5-10 minutes. It worked for both of them very quickly (One was a 10 yr addict, the other a 16 yr addict ).

You should take up drinking to fill the void. You can get arrested and not be allowed to smoke, therefore you quit.

3 days since i quit the cigarette and i feel so great.
Good product, worth the money if you want to stop smoking.
I'll post again if i reach 15 days without a cigarette
