cops get it more than us ems/firefighters do...i have alot of friends that are in law enforcement that are cool as hell but there are always douchebags in some places that just give the man a bad name. At the sushi place just last night I was sitting in a table right next to a couple cops and after they stared at me on the way to my table and my girlfriend overheard them say " I wish profiling wasn't such a big deal...most of it is true...i bet we could bust this guy for steriods if we could get away with it"

I'M FAT AS HELL! WTF!?!?  I just got our shit to go and left.... alot of cops are good guys..but some of them are those kids that got picked on in highschool and want a power trip to make them feel more in control of their lives or some shit.

Same shit in my city.  There are a bunch of really cool cops, then a handful of super douchebags.  Either way, they chooose their profession.

They volunteered for the job, there ain't no police draft. They put on bulletproof vest, carry pistols, shotguns and have automatic weapons in the trunks of their cars. They talk shit to people every chance they get. They get exactly what they deserve.

you think i'm full of shit... the same two cops were discussing hte profiling issue used minorities walking down the street in the middle of the night in a bad neighborhood as an example. He goes "they're typically up to no good"  then the other cop said it's the same thing in upper class neighborhoods as well..if you see someone of color in a higher class neighborhood in themiddle of the night walking around they're usually casing the joint. I was disgusted.

You wonder why that cop was so mean

He just got done working a case where a drunk driver killed a kid

Why can't the cop contain his anger in a completely unrelated case?

You work for 8 hours

He works for up to 18 hours

18 hours?  Has Martial Law been declared?  ::)

Anyway, every hour the cop works over a normal shift would be some serious bling-bling.  We're talking about civil service here, man.  Get real.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.

He goes into work still hurt and sore from the guy he had to fight the night before

You say his nightstick is sore?

You drink your coffee on your way to the mall.

He spills his as he runs code to a traffic crash with kids trapped inside

Perhaps he should try a lid and cupholder.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket before you leave the house.

He makes sure his guns is clean and fully loaded and his vest is tight

God, what a chore.

You complain about how hot it is.

He wears fifty pounds of gear and a bullet proof vest in the middle of July and still runs around chasing crack heads

Get in shape.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.

He runs out before he gets his food to respond to an armed robbery.

The same restaurant that comps his fat ass?

You get out of bed in the morning and take your time getting ready.

He gets called out of bed at 2 am after working 12 hours and has to be into work asap for a traffic homicide

Huh?  Is he the only cop in town?  ::)

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.

He holds the hair of some college girl while shes puking in the back of his patrol car

Is that before or after he forces her to blow him?  After, I guess.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.

He can't make any plans because on his off days he still gets called back into work

Again, civil service...CHA-CHING.  If he doesn't like it, there are many lower-paying, much more stressful jobs he could get.

HEY!!! I got news for you...

nobody forces them to be cops, if they have an attitute problem and need "sensitivity training" ::) than they may want to look for a new jkob.
I don't give a shit if he/she just cleaned up a street full of baby intestines as a cop you need to deal with it an move on.

So don't come to me and expect me to understand why a cop rather tazers a pregnant woman because he was in a bad mood.

While I understand what you mean......the reality is, that SOMEONE has o do it.

I got nothing but love and respect for our firemen/women, police officers, and military service people. It's a tough job, one I COULDN'T DO.

And if there is such a thing as a hero, I look to them and not some overpaid jackass who can hit a baseball.

hahah ok ::) do I respect somebody for doing his Job? Hell no!!! I respect somebody I meet and when I think he/she is somebody I think deserves my personal respect but you cannot just "love" ::) (FFS) and respect somebody simply for the profession they do, you guys have a warped perception of the word "respect" and what it should mean.

And just because you look up to (you don't respect them, you may think you do but you really are looking up to them) doesn't mean you cannot criticizes somebody who is using his nightstick for a quick anal probing.

What's amusing is all the hardasses who talk tough on here about police because they got a ticket.  Get over it.  You broke the law that the officer did not make, but enforces.  Have a problem?  Write your Congressman.

Most people have a problem with racial profiling until it's an Arab on a plane.  Remember your PC attitudes when they don't apply to Blacks.

Outside of this discussion board I doubt many would say the same thing to a police officer's face.

There's also an old saying...
"If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen".

Just because a cop has a bad day or witnessed something terrible, that doesn't mean that the guy who happened to be doing only 10km over the speed limit should get a nasty ticket just so this so-called cop could meet his ticket quota. If a cop cannot handle his job, then perhaps he should quit and try something else.

sorry if you had to deal with some asshole. but imagine what would happen if all the cops in this country went on strike. what would happen to you, your family, your neighboorhood?

Most cops don't go out of their way to give tickets.. If you're making illegal u-turns and parking in no standing and bus lanes, then of course you'll get a ticket.

Most people that don't do stupid shit and drive safe aren't the ones bitching about cops and getting pulled over and playing the usual race card.

Ive been stopped by cop more than 20 times ....five were legit.....can i live?

Here is a story about cops....

When I was like 12, my bike and my freinds bikes were stolen. The cops come they picked us up and drove us to the border of town where they had 10 black kids rounded' up.."Is your bike there" ..I was like " No, none of them are our bikes".."Which one do you want though, just pick one...well let you have it if you want.."  From that age I knew that Johnny 5-0 was a sunofabitch.

Try being a black male in the USA and telling me the police are fair.

When six of them gang up to you and beat the shit out of you and YOU get charged with assault and go to jail for it, you tell me the police are fair.

don't bother, all cops are fat racist pigs who eat donuts all day then go home to their mansions and laugh about how they assaulted a black kid and and got to shoot a guy without going to jail.

One of these days an 'internal investigation' might make a mistake and find that the cop in question was indeed guilty of negligent homicide.

/still waiting....

A cop 50 miles from where I live is being charged with the same thing.  This fucktard cop was on a call and went through a fucking red light without even slowing down or looking and killed some 18 year old girl.  What a fucker.  That department is going to have one hell of a lawsuit on their hands

See here a cop shoots a man in the face, not knowing that it's all on tape. The police report says he was surrounded by five when it took place but in reality it was 2 guys that weren't doing much when he shot the guy. His fellow officers backed him up and he was in ZERO trouble. If you watch the tape you'll see if not I ust basically explained it..

Try being a black male in the USA and telling me the police are fair.

When six of them gang up to you and beat the shit out of you and YOU get charged with assault and go to jail for it, you tell me the police are fair.

I am a libertarian, through and through.  I want the government's force to be as little as possible and definitely not a monopoly.

What a crock of shit man.

If you were a libertarian, then you'd be able to see through all the bullshit. I LIVE IN NYC, I know what goes on with black men and cops. Even cases with black men and black cops. It's not as race based as the media shows.

If you're a man of the law and you give very simple instructions that aren't followed and someone is being a danger, then of course you call for backup or act, or both.

It's funny to me how the media makes blacks out to be victims. Well, they account for like most of the crimes, and that's disregarded.  ::)

Approach a asian, indian or whatever.. And most of them will tell you that they like the increased police presence. They don't play the race card or whine about the police. Gee, I wonder why?  ::)

We just had an incident in British Columbia where a manin his forties was tasered to death by 3 officers. The guy was detained an left in a room for 9 hours because he couldn't speak English. He was European and coming here to visit his mother. The man grew frustrated and started yelling so these idiot cops taser him and he died. His miother watched her son die. That is pathetic.

In answer to the original post. There is an old saying,"if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen". Just because an officer has a bad day or witnesses some violence, that doesn't mean that he should pull over every tom, dick and harry and give them a ticket costing them money and points, not to mention higher insurance rates. It comes with the territory and if the officer can't handle that, then he/she should quit. You don't stereotype people. Respect is earned, not demanded.

For example, smoking a joint in public?  How many episodes of cops show police officers arresting black people aggressively under exactly that circumstance?

I agree with whoever posted that you have to EARN respect and not rely on the damn uniform to do it for you... I respect the law... i DONT respect a cop who's a douchebag and abuses power.  Just like how the govornment can do whatever the hell they want and get away with it, seems like cops do the same thing... and yet they get off clean when Joe Ordinary gets the book thrown at him... I see it all the time, and its a crock of shit.  Its a fact... MOST cops abuse the power they are given BECAUSE THEY CAN.

Queens. Police haven't broken my balls or anything.

Of course I've seen them come late during an accident, but that wasn't much of a problem.

Matt, police have to enforce the law. It's their job.. I'm more critical of politicians as I think drugs should be legalized.

But it's nothing like victim role that people portray. Don't be blazing one in your front porch in a packed urban neighborhood.. That's just not very smart.

Resisting arrest is a big problem.  I don't care if you were a robber or a junkie, you don't resist arrest and if you do you get put to the pavement.  If you watch the whole show you will see that they are given the option to go peacefully and ARE TOLD that if they do not cooperate that they will be put to the ground.

now cops around here are not too bad about little shit like smoking some green in public..if they catch you or see you doing it they'll tell you to put that shit out and let you go on with your day. If instead you give'em the finger or tell them to mind their own fucknig business then it's your ass. Respect goes both ways.

that's right..you'll get treated MUCH better when you do what you're asked to and cooperate with it. They're just doing their jobs..and 9 times out of 10 htey're just putting you in the back seat or putting you in cuffs to let them perform their jobs EASIER and not have to worry much about what you're doing or what you COULD do. Don't give shit and you won't GET shit from the man.

Yep, that's it.  Rich people can do all the drugs they want in the privacy of their homes, but the poor and homeless go to jail for doing the same things because they have no home to do it in.

Truth is - as always - somewhere in the middle.  :)  Black people DO play the race card a lot, but that is not to say it is not based in reality to some degree!

It is not simply your RIGHT to resist an illegal arrest - it is your DUTY.  And in fact, in supreme court rulings, you have the right to escalate force as much as necessary to resist an unlawful arrest up to and including taking the life of the officer breaking the law in that instance - it would be considered involuntary manslaughter.

They dont WANT to give you a hard time and DAMN sure don't wnat the hassle or the paper work. But I'll be damned if there isn't one mother fucker in our group everytime that has to yell FUCK THE COPS or I SMELL BACON when we go out to the bars and sure enough they come right over and "investigate"

most cops are smart enough to use discretion, honesty pays off, and the respect goes both ways.

While I understand what you mean......the reality is, that SOMEONE has o do it.

Yes, someone needs to provide a buffer zone from the stupid, reckless victimizers in society.

Funny thing is, though, cops are known to be equally stupid AND it's been shown that they've got the most similar psychological profiles (to career criminals)!

Cops and crooks really deserve each other. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to deal with them.

In terms of the scenario you argued, then there would not be an illegal arrest.  If you are innocent of a charge and there is not enough evidence to hold you then you will go free.  Many times suspects are put in handcuffs for officer safety, NOT for arrest.  The suspect is dumb and assumes arrest is imminent and then resists, trying to get away and that leads to another charge.  Being put in handcuffs and being mirandized are two different things.  Good try though.
