I gotta tell you... I really don't understand this. Most girls don't think he's all that great it's just the fact that he's an actor. same with George Clooney like wtf? How can some skinny dude with grey hair be sexiest man alive?

or...some of you might realize that "sexy" isn't always about abs, oil, and posing trunks on a man or woman.
george clooney is cool because he's a great actor, looks good for his age (compared to 99.9 percent of his colleagues), is a snappy dresser (probably one of the best dressed men i've seen), well traveled, a firm believer in his political views (regardless of you agreeing/disagreeing with him), and has a sharp wit. just watch him when he gets interviewed at red carpet premieres.
julia roberts? well, i personally think she's incredible. yeah, i know she makes mostly sappy girl flicks, but she's got a hell of a body, especially after shooting out two kids, has a sexy face, and one of the most incredible lips i've ever seen. and her body's not too shabby either.
matt damon came out of nowhere with his then boyfriend ben affleck with "good will hunting". he was a broke out of college kid who worked his ass off to sell his script and to get into the hollywood circles.
but you know, i wouldn't expect any less out of you people.

Maybe the fact the it's called the "sexiest" man alive as opposed to the "Best Looking" man alive has something to do with it. If this were a look contest, then fucking Brad Pitt would win year in and year out, but it's supposed to be more than that. Being sexy is not just about your look, but also about the overall appeal that you have which attracts "people" in general, not just those of the opposite sex. George Clooney has character, is known to be a fun guy on and off the screen and has talent with regards to playing various roles and to top that off he isn't a bad looking guy. All those attributes, plus the others that are never mentioned (wealth, connections, volunteer work etc..) are what probably constitutes the selection of the "sexiest" man alive.
To be quite honest with you, if there were to be a similar contest to that in the bodybuilding industry, I wouldn't be surprised if Arnold takes it the first time around, followed by our very own Ron the second year around...
Looks play a part, but not a big part in that selection. Remember, an ugly woman can be sexy, but a sexy woman doesn't necessarily have to look good.

exactly my European friend. I've noticed in my travels throughout Europe that European men mostly dismiss what we here would consider "hot" women. What young men here chase day to day is ridiculed in women in Europe. Men there want a woman who keeps up her appearance, cooks well, etc. Sex appeal is secondary, because let's face it, a lot of men there have lovers on the side who are just "hot" who they jump in the sack with during their lunch time "corso's".
