I'm gonna run out to the store and buy some "pro style" dumbells. since we live in generally the same region, do you know of any stores that carry them? i tried dicks and the sports authority, no dice, they just have the metal hex ones.

your gonna run out and miss the 33 posts fatfather will make in the hour you will be gone?

you need to go to a real fitness equipment type store, we have a bunch of 'em in the STL area but i don't know about Chicagoland, you'll be paying about 45 cents a pound for the weight and at least 50 bucks per handle.
-
and dont forget to buy SF a case of diet coke and 6 bags on onion flavored chips...the big bags too!

no shit, i looked online for a 300 lb weight set and the cheapest i found was about 3 times the price i paid for at the local store. the guy said online places rip you off and charge that much cuz it's heavy as shit to ship.
maybe when i see blockhead lurking around here, i'll hit 'em up. i bought some barbells and a bench from a place he suggested, but they only have some hampton dumbells there with "gel" handles that are gayer than post workout shakes.

we've got a place around here that sells a really nice pair of Olympic db handles for 80 bucks for the pair that you can load up heavier than shit with Olympic size plates./

i was planning on buying individual dumbells, preferrably Ivanko or something similar.

no don't do that, that's just dunb and a waste of money, buy a set of handles and a pile of plates that way you can use them not only for the db's but also for a barbell if you have a bar, plus you can easily adjust the weight but if you've got the money and want a nice home gym then get a rack and a bunch of db's.

the professional grade "Power Blocks" 0 - 130lb dumbells work well.
i agree, better doing this than spending 700-800 dollars or more on a whole set of pro style db's.

sears weightset.

Power Rod, try looking at USA/Troy. They have the VTX line on their website that is their cheapest line. You're right though, the shipping is usually what will cost you the most. The company i work for also sells Hampton, which is WAY over priced as is Ivanko and Iron Grip. Besides, right now Iron Grip has over a 3 month lead time.
