Quiet Riot Lead Singer Kevin Dubrow Dies

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Kevin Dubrow, lead singer for the 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot that scored a hit with "Cum on Feel the Noize," was found dead in a Las Vegas home. He was 52. The cause was not immediately known.

A neighbor summoned police and paramedics Sunday to the house where he was pronounced dead, police and coroner's officials said.

There was no forced entry, and no suspicious circumstances were reported, police Officer Jose Montoya said Monday.

Quiet Riot was perhaps best known for its 1983 cover of "Cum on Feel the Noize." The song, featuring Dubrow's powerful, gravelly voice, appeared on the band's album "Metal Health" — which was the first by a metal band to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

DuBrow recorded his first solo album in 2004, "In for the Kill," and the band's last studio CD, "Rehab," came out in October 2006.

"I can't even find words to say," Quiet Riot drummer Frank Banali wrote on his Web site. "Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend Kevin DuBrow."

Determination of the cause of death was pending an autopsy and toxicology results, Clark County coroner's spokeswoman Samantha Charles said.
Quiet Riot lead singer Kevin DuBrow was found dead Sunday in his Las Vegas home, MTV.com is reporting.

DuBrow (photographed second from left) was 52. The cause of death is not yet known.

"I can't even find words to say," the '80s metal band's drummer, Frankie Banali, wrote on his official Web site. "Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friends Kevin DuBrow."

Quiet Riot bassist Kelly Garni and the band's current label, Chavis Records, also confirmed the news.

On a Web site honoring the memory of Quiet Riot founding member Randy Rhoads, Garni urged fans to be patient until the details of DuBrow's death become clear.

"I ask that no one here offer any speculation or opinions, theories or other things that could be construed as negative or, and I'm sorry for this, even sympathetic, right at this immediate time," Garni wrote. "I will explain to everyone here the facts and the truth in the next 24 to 48 hours as I realize this will affect us all."

Quiet Riot's biggest hit was "Cum On Feel the Noize," from their breakout 1983 album Metal Health. Their most recent album, Rehab, was released in 2006.

As someone old enough to actually remember the period, at the time, I didn't think there was anything abnormal about that look.

It must have been some sort of mass hypnosis.

R.I.P.

I've got the first record they did in Japan with Randy Rhoads as the guitar player, I've also seen flyers where they opened for Van halen...can you imagine seeing Randy and then Eddie in the same night?

I've got a couple of bootlegs of them doing only a couple of songs from back in the club days..one of em is called Laughing Gas and it's pretty damn good.

first album has Slick Black Caddilac and it's ok but the rest is just so-so.

I liked the stuff they did in the 80's, they were a great band.  RIP.

The record label execs stylistically pwned 100 million americans in the 1980s by convincing them to dress that way.

Quiet Riot was a great, underrated band... their best album IMO was Condition Critical from 1994.
