There is a gray area in the "public figure" area, which Ron has made very clear to me. If a woman appears on a magazine cover, gives interviews, makes public statements, or appears in print or video regularly, she is vying for coverage (to make money obviously) and is therefore public figure - and FAIR GAME in getbig.
However when a woman is private, doesn't do interviews, and isn't trying to MAKE MONEY in the field, she is off limits on getbig. I think it's a good way to keep it fair yet not go overboard with censorship.

I think it is a bit unnecessary for Bob to be THAT harsh against comments about Jay's wife - from what I recall no one said anything "degrading," just that they didnt find her attractive. When you're a public figure or married to a public figure its a fact that people will discuss their opinions of you. Now say if a regular joe-blow-getbigger's wife started getting flamed and made fun of on this site - would Bob threaten to delete anyone's account over that? I seriously doubt it! So he definitely created a double-standard.

There is a gray area in the "public figure" area, which Ron has made very clear to me. If a woman appears on a magazine cover, gives interviews, makes public statements, or appears in print or video regularly, she is vying for coverage (to make money obviously) and is therefore public figure - and FAIR GAME in getbig.
However when a woman is private, doesn't do interviews, and isn't trying to MAKE MONEY in the field, she is off limits on getbig. I think it's a good way to keep it fair yet not go overboard with censorship.

However, you can't deny the fact that anabolics and diuretics are abused in your "sport" and are even against the rules of the IFBB. Anabolics are prescribed for people with low test levels (i.e. HRT) and diuretics are used for other MEDICAL purposes, like hypertension. Bodybuilders obviously do not use them for these reasons, which is why no self-respecting doctor would prescribe them to your "athletes". The fact that some doctors are willing to bend the rules and their professional ethics for bodybuilders doesn't make it legal.

Use and abuse within bodybuilding circles are really one and the same for many people. I agree with you 100% for the record however, and am aware of enough physiology (as are many 3rd graders) that in order to get 300lbs of lean mass on a person less than 10 feet tall indicates steroid/insulin abuse. To say the top guys are not abusing drugs is a slap in the face.
I think Bob just doesn't like the idea that maybe he altered himself for the worse "using" drugs and doesn't want to face up to it. To him it is a sport. To people like myself it is introduction of exogenous, copious amounts of anabolic compounds as well as renal stressing compounds whose use nobody can predict. I doubt there is a single professional bodybuilder out there that can identify a mitogen activated protein kinase pathway and how maybe, just maybe the compounds they "use" may cause uncontrolled gene induction that could lead to things other than larger muscles. What the fuck do I know though I just went to school, I didn't learn my chemistry through a needle or a pill in a locker room.

Equating speech that would cause imminent physical harm with speech that would cause hurt feelings or speech that you don't happen to like is a very bad analogy that not only misses the point, but also implies that governmental authorities could put restrictions on such speech, which of course they can't.

That's because the "legitimate questons" are typically asked on other sections of the board...not the G&O section.
It would be cool if some of the more well known guys posted in some of the other sections of getbig, i.e. the training, nutrition sections and even the hardcore section...although I understand that one is unlikely, but would still be pretty cool.
Personlay, I like Get Big, I like the fact that it's not as tightly wound up as some other message boards...even so, there is a line that is crossed on here far to often IMO and I would like to see an end to that. Not only does it degrade the people at hand, but it hurts the board as a whole by way of driving away worth while contributors.

I don't really think many people here are losing sleep over the fact that pro's don't post here. Most of them know very little exceptional information about training, are not particularly "entertaining" (not a negative thing, but a truth) and don't fit the general vibe of the board.
Why would we want to sacrifice what we have here just so we could have a couple of one line answers from a few pro's? How does it enhance our lives to have people who respond well to steroids on the board?
The reason this board is good is because it doesn't matter who you are, you're still subject to the same criteria - its no suprise that Pro's can't handle it. A lot of that had to do with not having their egos fed. I'm not saying they are all like that but clearly that is a very common trait in these guys.
Bob has become the type of member we don't want. Loathes the board but stays here anyway, complaining about the temper of the board all the time. Reminds me of Intenseone/The Coach. You'd think, with his ability to make logic conclusions that he'd put two and two together and leave.

Getbig has many different boards. There are boards where they can discuss training etc... with rules that state there is no bashing allowed. The Gossip and Opinion boards is a different animal. bbing supp companies run pro bbing (always have).
muscle tech is the king of bbing supps ie muscle tech is the king of pro bbing.
mr o, jay cutler is muscle tech's boy and they want to keep it that way so they stay on top.
bbing.com's only interest is whoring for supplement companies ie muscle tech is their bread and butter and their biggest 'sponsor'.
the athlete's rep is employed by bbing.com and therefore knows that he must please muscle tech and, as such, he must please their boy, jay.
therefore the athlete's rep is a very 'close friend' to the cutlers.
that's how the athlete's rep operates, he keeps in with everyone in the biz but his loyalty lies strictly with those that can feather his nest. that's also why, when it comes to a dispute between an athlete and his employer, his employer will win hands down every time.
he is valued by the ifbb as an athletes rep because he does their dirty work for them and keeps the athletes quiet.
