A fight nearly broke out between Bernard Hopkins and Joe Calzaghe today during their first face-to-face meeting at the MGM Grand Media Center in Las Vegas. "I would never let a white boy beat me," Hopkins told reporters. "You can print that. I would never lose to a white person." Hopkins also dissed Calzaghe's win over Mikkel Kessler. "Kessler is not in my league, man. Who is Kessler? You think Kessler was a true warrior?" Calzaghe stated, "He ducked me four years ago. He thinks he's a legend but he lost to Jermain Taylor twice and, believe me, he will lose to me.....He'll get his arse kicked, full stop. He's all mouth. He doesn't fight, he holds." Both fighters said they would make their showdown happen in 2008, possibly at Yankee Stadium in New York City.

I firmly believe bernard's a business man and not a racist,he knows what sells fights and this fight (if it happens) might need some help when it comes to selling it because A) his last fight against winky was a sleeper...B) he's 40 now and at the end of his career....and C) Calzaghe's never fought outside of the UK and still dos'nt have all that much appeal (with the exception of hardcore fans)....
he's business partners with De La Hoya and this fight's definetly gonna be co promoted by Golden boy productions so it's to his advantage to sell as many tickets as he can and what better way to sell tickets than to piss people off and say shit like that !

that's true its to better piss people off and sell tickets then not. But using the race card not a good idea in the states.

calazaghi will box rings round hopkins, he's signed to fight him many times only to duck out at the last min,,, they could fill a football ground in the uk with this fight, but he wouldnt travel over here to be beaten.
Id say kessler would wipe the floor with hopkins too, and when lacy gets his head back together itl be a good fight between them 2, but kessler will win

If there is one fighter Hopkins does not stand a chance against that would be Calzaghe. The American knows it. I wanted the Welshman to lose against Lacy, and yet he whooped his ass big time. I also wanted him to lose against Kessler, and he also whooped his ass big time. Joe made a believer outta me, knockout by knockout.
I firmly believe Hopkins' skills are not enough to beat Calzaghe, much less knock him out. That is why the American's consistently avoided white chocolate, because he gonna knock his black ass to da ground neegga! Straight up!
