Would love to live in the USA...People generally seem to be much friendlier over there (than the UK).

Spent a few months in Dallas a couple of years ago...best time of my life.  English accent = minor celebrity status and unlimited bitches in any bar/club that you chose to frequent.

Pretty introvert folks.
Well, Australia, Canada are high on my list.
Maybe when I'm done studying I can join the aussies - they are rightfully pretty picky about us immigrants  :P

dubai or monaco would be a good choice

both suck i think.

Monaco is too expensive, there are too many snobs around the only advantage is the taxes.

Dubai sucks too, if you want to live a western lifestyle. if you don't mind being a complete outsider or getting into problems because you won't adopt, then it's fine i guess.

Hint: the most spoken language in "america" is not english.  ::)

If I like a country I usually move there and live there for a while.

I liked Sydney, Australia.
in the summer Italy, spain and greece are nice.
Parts of US are fun.

Used to like London and Paris but not anymore.

Lots of fun in Tokyo, still after a year or so there the trafic and crowds are too much
for me to feel at peace.

Love Thailand.

New Zeeland is pretty cool as well.

Winter time I spend a few months in the french alps snowboarding.
The Alps in switzerland and Austria are quite fun as welll.
The italian alps are nice for a weekend, beatiful sunny
t-shirt riding snowdays in the spring.

Now I moved to a fantastic place, summer all year, just training and eating.
Life is beautiful.

/Peace

Realistically, south of france would be a good option. Still stay close to family/friends, enjoy the weather and the "joie de vivre".
USA (cali or vegas) or argentina would be nice too.

They're on my list of countries that i never want to go to, fyi.
And why don't you want to go to brazil or portugual?

I've been to Portugal this summer and it was pretty nice. I'd love to see Brazil, but maybe it's a bit too violent/unstable to live in for long. But it's a big country and you can find whatever you want there.

I don't know... Women tend to like something "exotic". Money also plays a factor of course, my friend went to Cuba couple of months ago and he saw a lot of fine chicas with ugly ass euros/brits.

How is the (gang) violence etc over there? Or is that more a problem for rio and the north?

I have a friend that went to south of brazil and she says it's a really nice and rich area. Way more european than the north. She went to the north too and in this one city she was the only white person.

Stroessner fan?
How can you not like the man?

Quote
His regime is also blamed for torture, kidnappings and corruption. Estimates of the Stroessner family fortune run as high as $300 million.
Furthermore, Stroessner's Paraguay became a haven for Nazi war criminals, non communist peaceful opposition was crushed and the indigenous population was persecuted including forcibly assimilating the Ache population, a policy which ended in bloodshed, sexual slavery and servitude

the south of brazil is predominantly white and safer than the north, brazilians are very family oriented, if you marry one be ready for countless and unannounced visits of your wife's parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, first cousins, second cousins, third cousins, ..... you get it.  i have a friend in montreal who dated a brazilian and he just could not take it.  in any case, look up florianopolis, brazil, for some amazing beaches, i loved it there.

Funny thing about this thread is that for all the shit the rest of the world talks about the US, everyone still wants to live here.

You don't see anyone from the US wanting to live in any other country, unless they're talking about acquiring some Brazilian or Ukranian pussy and diseases for their collection.

Hey the USA is fucking cool and I'd go to war with you guys anyday, coz I know it would be a just cause and not anything to do with oil prices and stuff ;). But sometimes things are a little crazy over there, Australia is a little more laid back but still similar in many ways 8).

I kinda look at the USA as like our big brother country that has got a bit of an addiction to speed or something, but in the end he's still ya brother ;D.

Uh, take a 2nd look at the list, US is barely on there.
As for myself, I'd like to experience a few completely different parts of the US for a few years, but I probably wouldn't want to stay there.
High on my list are: UK, sweden, NZ, canada. Having said that, I'm pretty content in the Netherlands.

Guam is a territory of the U.S. and will one day be a state.

Typical nationalistic American. ::)

Have to agree with statement.  When you have travelled a bit you just don't want to settle for one place.  There is always so much more to see.  That being said I love Asia, and I'm quite happy working in China at the moment. Give it another 12 months who knows which country will be next.

Our cities are a lot like the US.  I don't think many australian people really "crave" living in a US city and beside desire for weather, I can't see any US people from cities wanting to live in AU.

Pretty introvert folks.
Well, Australia, Canada are high on my list.
Maybe when I'm done studying I can join the aussies - they are rightfully pretty picky about us immigrants  :P

Damn straight. Australians dont want their country going down the toliet like the UK or USA. Inconciderate foreigners like muselim ragheads with their 4 wives and 23 children can fuck right off with their values of corruption, pollution, exploitation and vile stench.

Australia is one of the last countries that has yet to be fucked over.

Hope this helps.

Since i read many are interested in Brazil and Argentina (And im familiar with both countries), i must say i like argentina over brazil.

Brazil = Some good places (florianopolis, camboriu, Rio if you dont get killed, Sao Paulo) , "ok" food (Churrasquerias) and good beer. Kinda cheap (forget about buying imported stuff)

Argentina = Buenos aires is just a GREAT place to go and eat for some serious CHEAP money. You guys dont realize how great is. Downtown is kinda dirty but that wont ruin your day :). There are some GREAT restaurants, like CABAÑA LAS LILAS, where you can probably eat the best meat in the world, im talking about a 450gr steak, bloody, perfectly cooked by argentinian "parrilleros", or go to "Siga la vaca" and for us$15 or so, eat as much meat as you can (and its not some cheap ass meat).

So many nice places over there, and the nightlife, oh man, it start at 3 am in the morning and end at 10 am or so :) so be ready for some serious clubbing.

Funny you should say that.

Canada and The Netherlands are my two options, other than my homecountry of course.

Both looking for another socialist paradise. ;)

Financially Canada would probably be the best option for me, but culturally Sweden fits me better. It's one of the few countries where I could bear living in a major city (as long as it isn't Goteborg*). Stockholm is a great city, and somewhere near Observatoriemuseet would be perfect. I'd better start saving now...

A couple of years ago my brother's friend bought some very nice flats in Buenos Aries for about £25 000/$50 000 per flat. I don't know what the prices are like now, but it was considered a very good place to invest in.

Depends where did he bought them. There's this place in bs as where flats price start at us$1.000.000, thats the only area in bs as where i guess its good to invest.

Now, so you can understand if those flats he bought are a really worth, there's this phrase which is usual down here:

Buy an argentinian for its real cost and sell him for what he says he cost.

Funny thing about this thread is that for all the shit the rest of the world talks about the US, everyone still wants to live here.

You don't see anyone from the US wanting to live in any other country, unless they're talking about acquiring some Brazilian or Ukranian pussy and diseases for their collection.

Team America!!
Fuck Yeah!!

Many ppl think the USA is very nice place but has terrible leadership/politicians, many americans themselves will tell you that.
What is Bush's approval ratings?

I myself wouldn't mind living in socal for example.

Why do so many ppl want to live in UK and sweden ??? all they have there is cold and rain...

i know that allmost all of the world in some way or another hates the usa for many reasons, i went to school in an american school, so im kinda into american culture also(even thou im from south america)..

one of my teachers told me once that even thou the rest of the world hates what bush does or doesnt do, he gets his job done, which is to take care of american interests all over the world and to look after the USA, no one else, he could care less about what somalia does or doesnt do, and since he has the biggest/best army in the world, he can bully/destroy anyone he wants at any time. Americans have military bases all over the world, and control basically the world economy, so they are only going to look after themselves. im not complaining, i would just do the same thing. hahaha

still I rather live in paraguay  ;D

Fresh air, good looking girls, but...
A horrible country, horrible weather, almost no daylight half of the year.
Boring nightclubs, nothing to buy just a few crappy stores on a small shopping street.
90% of their lives the swedes spend indoors.

I live in the USA and I have been fortunate to be able to travel to various countries.  There are a lot of countries that I would like to visit or revisit but there are only a few that I would actually like to live.

Would like to visit or revisit.
Canada (Toronto) - Expensive.  Unbearable winter.
Mexico (Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico City, etc...) - Relatively inexpensive.  Unbearable heat in the summer.
Belgium - Expensive.  Beautiful city (Brussels)
France - Expensive.  Beautiful city (Paris).
England (London, Manchester) - Expensive.  Dreary at times (rainy, foggy).
Japan.  Expensive
South Africa (Cape Town, J'Burg) - Relatively inexpensive.  Can be dangerous at times or at certain areas.
Jamaica
Korea
India
Thailand
Spain
Sweden
Ireland

Would like to live (as long as I am still working for an American Company and this is a temporary assignment):
Brazil - Relatively inexpensive.  Rio DJ, beautiful women, beautiful country.  Would like to live there.
China - (Shanghai, Hongkong, Shenzen, etc...) relatively inexpensive.
Vietnam - Relatively inexpensive.  Beautiful country.

However, I still like USA the best.  There are still plenty of states that I haven't visited yet such as Alaska, Washington, etc...

Hurricanes are a minor inconvenience unless you're stupid and don't heed evacuation warnings.  Maybe once every two years on average you have one come close enough to you to have an effect.  Big deal.  Just get on a plane and take an unexpected two or three day vacation somewhere if one is coming.

ST
i still havent been to north and south dakota...would like to see those two

The U.S. has some beautiful areas but sadly it is the most hated nation on Earth.
They are currently fighting a war over greed/the benefit of a few corrupt individuals on top. This seems to be a reoccurring theme in the United States.  Most Americans are such sheep that they can’t recognize what’s in front of them.  The scale of corruption in the U.S. is a threat not only to its citizens, but the rest of the world.  The WTC evidence that I’ve seen sure as hell points to a cover-up.  What kind of government does this to its own citizens?  Anywhere but the U.S. is fine with me.

Originally from Canada, although a great nation to live, I think the best place in the world is the United States. I'd like to live in Seattle or San Francisco. Compared to the Netherlands, which is where I work and thus currently live, for 6 years now, any hick town in the US will suffice though.

I am deeply disappointed by the sad state of affairs in Europe, I though it would be fun here. Instead what I found was a bunch of America-hating, arab loving, anti-jewish cocksuckers. Don't believe for a moment that the Dutch are "tolerant" as they like to call it, for their tolerance does not go beyond weed and islam. Anything American and (especially) Jewish, is hated with a passion. The biggest part of the population also firmly believes that the state of Israel is the cause of all the problems in the world. I will leave here soon  ;D

All ranting aside, other places I'd like to live are:

Mexico, especially Yucatan, like Playa del Carmen or Cozumel. Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta. Def. gonna retire in Mexico.
Canada, especially Edmonton, although I can't stand the winter there. Vancouver is nice though. I've heard Montreal is really nice too, but i have never been there.
Any islans in the Caribbean would be nice, like the Bahamas.

fixed. In fact, if you are here and following recent developments, you would know that our gedoogbeleid for weed is also under pressure.

American government is indeed not very popular here. That should come as no surprise to anyone, though. American people aren't the problem, just their government. Things like the US government's "invasion of The Hague"-act do of course foster such an attitude.

The United States is not a member party to the International Criminal court (I forgot the exact name). The United States has the right to try their own citizens for (war)crimes. One of the biggest objections against this court would be its objectiveness. Seeing the current attitude in Europe, and within the United Nations as a whole, I can fully understand the American attitude towards this criminal court. It can very easily be misused for political purposes. UN countries such as France have already misused their rights within the United Nations organization, there is no reason to assume things would be different with the criminal court. Really how objective do you think a court can be with potential judges from countries such as Russia, France, Germany, Iran and Sudan?

As far as the US government is concerned, what is wrong with protecting our great western society, from the a society that does want to destroy it? The United States, at the very least, makes an effort to protect our society and the values it stands for. Freedom, of speech and religion. Equality of all people sexes and races. And the pursuit of happiness for all who wish to chase it. Sure sounds a heck of a lot better than total submission to a god that destroys all that is not islam.... I also find it surprising that the islamic threat is far more clear in Europe than it will ever be in the US, yet nobody wants to see it.

On a related point you merely react to my observation that Americans are hated in Europe/Netherlands. How do you explain the anti-semetic tendencies? (and by semetic I mean Jewish)

How objective can a country be if it is the sole judge of its own people? A jury of peers, isn't that the way the US justice system itself works?

If that only were the real reason, then I would respect that. Wouldn't agree with it (I'm more isolationist), but I would respect it.

What threat? There are problems with second- and third generation immigrants, certainly. A lot of them are not even muslim, they are disenchanted youth who use the guise of islam to justify their crimes. Under the cloak of multiculturalism they act out and claim it is their culture that makes them criminal, whereas their poor upbringing and (perceived) lack of opportunities is the real problem. Real muslims, who actually follow the Koran and don't just pay lip service to it, aren't a big problem here.

I have not noted a great degree of anti-semetic tendencies. There are most definitely anti-Israeli sentiments, but that is of course not the same. The reason I did not address it, was because it is similar to how the US is perceived: nice people, terrible government. And it may be that, where the US media is overtly pro Zionism, the Dutch media (can't speak for the rest of Europe) is overtly contra Zionism. Don't think it is, but I am rarely exposed to mainstream media.

whole europe is pro arab, anti american  and anti jewish anyway.

Whether or not the US justice system is objective is not at stake. What is at stake is a government's right to protect its civilians and ensure that they are tried in a way that their own consitutions promises.

You claim that islam is not the problem, only second and third generation "muslims" are the problem who under the guise of their religion commit crimes and misbehave. I disagree. How do you explain the fact that a painting was not allowed to be displayed in a museum last week because it might insult muslims? Can you imagine the same thing happening with regard to christians? How do you explain the fact that over 90% of all domestic violence in Holland concerns muslim men mistreating their wives? How do you explain the violence against gay people, (native) women en jewish people by muslim youth? And again, how do you explain their fierce hatred towards the US? They would rather have the terrorists win, and sometimes I feel some of the Dutch think the same.

I have noted tremendous tendencies of anti-semitism. Jewish families who are being terrorized by muslims. Anti-Israel manifestations in Amsterdam. During one of these manifestations Israeli flags were burned, and swastikas were displayed, all while members of parliament were participating. (But of course they were unaware of all this taking place ::))
Apart from this I find the entire notion that the majority of the population believes that Israel is to blame for the troubles in the world extremely anti-semetic. Most people here also believe that Israel rightfully belongs to the Palestinians. Not only are people here anti semetic, they are also very wrongly informed and know next to nothing about the history of Israel.

However, don't be insulted regarding holland, it has nice things. I like the bread and "de apenheul"  8)

Funny thing about this thread is that for all the shit the rest of the world talks about the US, everyone still wants to live here.

You don't see anyone from the US wanting to live in any other country, unless they're talking about acquiring some Brazilian or Ukranian pussy and diseases for their collection.

Hate to burst your bubble guys (Ed, Joe), but I'm from Jersey (no Jersey jokes please) but I live in Perth, Australia.  It's a crappy place to visit but a great place to live.

Our cities are a lot like the US.  I don't think many australian people really "crave" living in a US city and beside desire for weather, I can't see any US people from cities wanting to live in AU.

The Americanization of Aus seems to be progressing steadily but it's only superficial.  The difference between here and there is night and day.

I would agree with you if the situation was equal for both sides. If a US court even so much as vaguely suspects a Dutch citizen, they will demand his extradition and throw him in jail. This happens on even the vaguest of charges. It's obvious the US government is bullying countries simply because they can.

Are the muslims at fault there? It's their right to ask for such things. Just like Christians in the US demand the ten commandments in court houses: they are free to ask. That they are being accomodated is the fault of do-gooder hippies, not the muslims themselves.

Quote
How do you explain the fact that over 90% of all domestic violence in Holland concerns muslim men mistreating their wives?
Official stats, please. If this is true, then they are at least 90 times more prone to this. This sort of statement needs ironclad proof.

Quote
How do you explain the violence against gay people, (native) women en jewish people by muslim youth?
Again: they are not muslim youth. They are youth born of muslim parents, yes. And they claim to be muslim when it suits them. There is also a sizeable problem with this garbage in, e.g., night life. But again: are they really muslim? If so, would they be going out, getting drunk, high, hitting on kuffar women? No, a muslim is not allowed to do this. After they get caught they CLAIM to be muslim, so that the hippies here have pity on them. But actions speak louder than words, and their actions scream: western trash.

Quote
And again, how do you explain their fierce hatred towards the US? They would rather have the terrorists win, and sometimes I feel some of the Dutch think the same.
How do you explain the fierce hatred of the KKK against blacks? Ignorance, nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you were talking about the average dutchman being anti-semetic. My mistake. Yes, those children born of immigrant parents are acting out against jews. And blacks. And whites. And chinese. And indonesians. Our Turks hate Moroccans just as much as vice versa. If it was simply about being muslim, then those two would be getting on great. Apparently that is not the case.

Well, this is quite a discussion in and of itself. Let's put it like this: the Dutch people are indeed misinformed. Just as misinformed as the US audience, but differently.

Don't mistake me for being patriotic, because I don't care what you say about Holland. As long as it's factual, that is. :)  If I were patriotic I wouldn't be considering emigration. :D

You're really an idiot.

Try to look up 'america' on a map and tell me which is the official language spoken there, please.

When you're finished, can you to the same for 'europe' and 'asia' please?  ::)
get off your high horse faggot.

you know exactly what 'America' he's talking about.

BTW, you could say that 'America' is a proper term for the U.S., as it's the only country on the American continent spoken with the word 'America' in it.

How is the (gang) violence etc over there? Or is that more a problem for rio and the north?

I have a friend that went to south of brazil and she says it's a really nice and rich area. Way more european than the north. She went to the north too and in this one city she was the only white person.
How can you not like the man?

It's like any other large city. If you walk around with money hanging out your pocket, looking like a tourist and are completely unaware of your surroundings you'll make yourself a target. Although I lived in Sao Paulo I also spent time in Rio and I experienced no problems. After a few months there I knew the language well enough to take a taxi on my own and get to where I needed to go. But as I previously mentioned, I was always aware of my surroundings even when i was out drinking and partying.
