Define 'work'; provided the necessary calorie deficit is present, they work. Without the deficit they don't work.

Only in addition to a caloric deficit. Any drop in calories below mantenaince level will cause the body to start utilizing stored bodyfat for fuel depending on your activity level.

Most are good for energy. I like to take 1 'LIPODRENE' with my morning coffee.

Nothing beats the good old tried and true ECA stack.

If ECA didnt suppress my hunger to basically nil then I wouldnt bother with it, Im not sure how much more they contribute to the actual fat burning process in my own case, when in a calorie deficit.

The older ones that had ephedra in it do. Both the old school Hydroxycut and Ripped Fuel were awesome back in the day when they had ephedra in them. Now, they stink. Better off using the ECA stack on its own. 1ea caffine, 1ea 25mg ephedrine (if you can score them under the counter...most nutrition places still carry them) and 1 baby asperin tablet first thing in the am when you wake up and again half an hour before you train. It'll work wonders but you must do cardio at the end of your session. Do for six weeks and see what happens. Keep your diet clean. My two pennies.

The misconception is that if your heart is beating faster, then surely you must be burning fat.  This is proven to be false as there are many factors that determine whether or not your burn fat when taking these supplements.   Many have a diuretic effect in that you lose water (thus water weight) but not much bodyfat.

you can still get ECA fat burners if you're too lazy to make the stack yourself----not sure if its still on there but dpsnutrition.net had "tri-methyl lean" for sale a little while ago -----each pill has 10milligrams of ephdreda in them, the bottle will tell you to take one a day but thats just how they are able to sell them, you need to take 2pills 2-3 times a day-------that'll equal the dosage that the old xenadrine and hydroxycut had in them.

no.

they will raise your metabolic rate to some extent (and that extent is minor), but they are usually not worth the stress they put on your system. less and less guys are using stimulants pre-contest for that reason.

the only true fat burner is taking in lass calories than your body needs to maintain its present bodyweight.

Thats a good anwser. But taking less and less calories just to lose fat is jo-jo dieting. That way you slow down your metabolism. I think its better to keep the calories moderate/high in good food, like protein. And to excersize a lot and to do lots of cardio. If you eat small calories you will ofcourse lose some fat, but you will lose muscle tissue even more. I think milos is right about atleast 8 small meals a day with each meal the concentration should be payed for protein.

Researchers speculate that about 90% of the weight loss on eph/caff is due to the anorectic effect and 10% due to the thermogenic effect.
