what was the average height of bbers from 60's and 70's compared to today.

5-5 was average back then according to JoeLocal.

Arnold is 6-1 or so,
Larry Scott 5-7
Dave Draper 6-0
Lou Ferrigno 6-5
Franco Columbu 5-5
Albert Beckles 5-7

as far as amateurs, I'm sure there was a wide range of heights.

probably same as now.  usually between 5'8" and 6'
