I was in Wal Mart, don't ask me why. I took a picture of a friend and 5 minutes later some Wal Mart goon came and told me I wasn't alllowed to take photos in Wal Mart. :o
Why?

I've seen bridal stores w/signs that say no photos are to be taken in the store but they probably think someone will try to copy a specific design more cheaply than purchasing it at the store.
Not sure what the thinking is at Wal-Mart though. Although recently I went to 3 stores taking pictures of lighting fixtures (for sale) and was thinking someone would try to stop me for some reason. No one did.

Wal-Mart doesn't want anyone sharing their pricing with competitors. If they see you with a pen and paper, they will also tell you to put it away.

But they routinely send out people to do this in other stores, with pen and paper.

Two questions: One, why were you shopping at Wal Mart? And two, why on earth would you take a picture there? ???
Okay, sorry. You said not to ask why :-\

They probably thought you were scoping the joint. I was once with a friend in a shopping mall and he was snapping pictures of me left, right, & centre. When I went to the ATM, the next thing you know, we had mall security surrounding us. Apparently taking a picture near a bank is a no-no.
Be on the bright side though, ...at least you're not dark, swarthy, or middle eastern looking.
You could have ended up in Guantanamo. :P
We had a Pakistani guy who was out with his family doing the touristy things like seeing the CN Tower etc. He got arrested for shooting the CN Tower, ...something thousands upon thousands of tourists do with their camcorders every day, ...but he was arrested for it because he looked middle eastern. Yep, ...there was a racial discrimination lawsuit filed, ...and yep he won! Luckily for the tax payers, he didn't want cash, he wanted a public apology for the humiliation he was forced to suffer in front of his family!

So when the real nutbags do it, nobody will bother them and some of ur fellow countrymen will get killed..great job Canada.

Oh, you're absolutely right! Afterall, everybody knows you can't possibly blow up a public building without getting grainy unsteady amateur videotape of it's exterior, complete with footage of family and kiddies with cheesy grins in the background. I mean, the fact that it is a public landmark having received tons of publicity, it's building specifications out in the public domain since construction... without that grainy footage, it's a no-go. ::)
The paranoid xenophobia only works on brain-dead bigots HH, ...but keep speaking.
You obviously know your target market well. 8)

You just end up buying cheaper worthless Chinese shit at Wal-Mart. Go to Macy's, Dillards, Sears, or Penney's, you just end up buying expensive, worthless Chinese shit.

Do you think that two random employees from some Wal-Mart can't just walk into another competing store and memorize a few prices? Perhaps pick up a newspaper ad and scope out the price it's advertising to the public?
Wal-Mart has some odd policies. I've delivered to their stores many many times, and here are some of the things you must abide by or else you won't be allowed to deliver more product, or you could be refused at that moment;
1) Only one delivery person "in the red zone" at all times. This includes people from the same company. Two Budweiser employees cannot be getting the same load checked in.
2) You must have your product shown to the receiver, UPC's all scanned. So if you have 2 cases of frozen pizza, you have to show all three (even if all three are the same price)- not just one and they "do some math."
3) No swearing in the back room. I was almost thrown out of a store for this, because I showed my disdain for Wal-Mart, and the girl said "If you want to act that way, you can leave." I told my employee that I was going to get something to eat, and he said "Can't do it, it's Wal-Mart!" and I replied 'Jesus Christ!' But I was breaking rule number 1, so I didn't want to push my luck.
4) All products must meet a certain temperature, frozen food can't be any more than -10 degrees. If not, they'll refuse your product. They actually stick a thermometer in the product and have to log the temp in to a book, which will later be reviewed by a big wig.
5) Invoices must match up 100%, this rarely happens, and it becames a fiasco!
6) The receivers are worthless there. They'll hire 2 incompetent bible-thumping girls (like girl in #3), that can't check you in, in less than an hour and a half because they are paid $10/hr. Compare this to another store, the receiver will get twice that, and have you in and out within minutes because he knows what he's doing, and isn't stupid!
And lastly, a MANAGER from a Wal-Mart told me that he made $8/hr. I was shocked. This was in Nevada, so I'm sure that had something to do with it, but I couldn't believe it. Also, I think he was only a department manager, not a store manager.
Fuck Wal-Mart!!! But they do have good prices! :D

YoungBlood, are you an independent trucker?

That's actually quite high, ...for Walmart. They're known for their low prices, but what's not so commonly known is that many of their employees work 40+ hour weeks (without overtime) with many also having to collect welfare just to feed themselves. There is a very high price to be paid for low prices.

Nope, I deliver frozen product to them for my company, on the retail side.

Do you use a company vehicle, or is it yours, but leased to the company?
-
It's the companies, with about 15 logos the size of Squadfather's ego pasted on the side of the tractor, and another 15 on the 30ft. trailer.

How often do you fuel up the reefer units?
-
Depending on the depot and such, if you have electrical hooked up (my depot doesn't, but the depot across town does) or not. Since my depot doesn't have electrical, I have to run my reefer unit all night to keep my product cold all night once it's loaded around midnight or so.
During me running the route, I will run the unit off and on through the day. I generally run it all the way to my first stop till it's -20f and get it nice and cold, then turn it off because I don't want to disturb anyone and would like to be as quiet as possible.
Generally, I fill it up once a week, but maybe twice if it's running all night, every night. It's an 85g tank for the reefer alone, and two different 85g tanks for the regular gas tanks.
