Anybody know what's involved? It's been about 15 years since I served in the marines.

You need to be no older than 28, in good health, and are ready to commit. The Marines are looking for a few good men. We need more good Americans to fight for our freedoms, Iraqi's freedoms, and for our safety here on the homefront. Like President Bush has stated, if we fight them over there, they won't come over here.

I was talking to a Marine last week who just finished DI school. They are turning Boot Camp into a boy scout camp. Among other things, they're not allowed to curse at the recruits, cannot touch them, have to maintain some distance from them, cannot point in their faces, cannot call them names, and the recruits are interviewed at least once during Boot Camp so they can snitch on DI's who break the rules. Sounds like summer camp. :-\
-
quickest way to break down a recruit is to do a train on him....i think they quit doing that....
dang if the marines are that soft, wonder what navy bootcamp is like....been around fiveteen years since bootcamp for me, im sure a lot has changed....

Are you sure about that? A guy I know just rejoined and must be at least 40 by now.

I think it might even be a little older than 40.

It's 42 for the army. I don't know if it's less for the Marines. I don't think I would have to go to bootcamp.

Sounds right. I almost went back in a couple years ago, but the family used WMDs to keep me out (tears, crying, etc.).
Boot Camp sounds like summer camp now anyway.

They did actually have some of those rules back then. It didn't stop them from doing any of those things. Like they couldn't hit you, but haha, right... It was just followed with and "oops" and an asschewing for getting in the way. I doubt much has changed in reality. Even if a recruit complains, haha, I doubt that will go over very well at all. Best to keep your mouth shut.

U can get waivers to atleast 31..maybe higher now...45 for the army but u have to be in pretty good shape. The things about Boot Camp...I went through in 91 and most of those things were in place. Go for it..u will be able to see first hand how some of our policies shake out. It will at the very least change ur mind on some of ur posts and I'm sure reinforce others.
