Title: When did having 3 meals become the norm for humans?

when did having 3 meals become the norm for humans

seriously..most people aren't active enough on a daily basis to warrant 3 meals, add to that a couple of snacks and you have an over weight society.

Fat people never miss a meal even if they aren't hungry. I remember telling a co-worker that I wasn't hungry and his reply was "dude, it's lunch time". The implication being that even if you are not hungry you still have to eat something.

also what is the point of a big dinner? most americans are just going to watch TV for a couple of hours and then go to sleep anyway.

discuss..

You raise a good point.
Hopefully this trend wont continue otherwise over half the nation will be obese... doh :P

It irritaes me too. When i was on vacation last year i didnt train for over two weeks, in that time my normal appetite just went. So i didnt eat for the sake of eating!

The typical American diet is terrible, little to no breakfast (mostly coffee), lunch, and big dinner.....if anything this should be completely reversed.....big breakfast (to fuel you throught the day), good sized lunch, small dinner......this being for a normal person who isn't a bodybuilder and doesn't train.

if you tell americans they can only eat once a day they'll make that one time last forever

what is interesting is that people eat the same thing every day irrespective of their activity level.

also when you are hungry you never seem to remember that you had a big meal about 3 hours ago. Which leads me to believe that hungry is more a mental reponse than a physical one.

Probably started back in the hunter gatherer days and stuck with us.. hahaha

You read old literature, they hardly mention breakfast. While dinners and lunches are always mentioned.

what is interesting in the change in our culture towards fat people...

it seems that 25% BF for a guy is viewed as normal to inshape.

walk around any urban mall and 8/10 women have some belly fat hanging over their jeans..and they are showing it proudly

Yeah I think it just developed like that as they hunted, made kills and all that.

Dinner is a huge event in any culture. I think this is so because our ancestors probably hunted on until they made a large kill or killed enough, and this probably took them well into the evening.

Many moons ago, the fatter you were, the more influence you had in society...With hardly a middle class, you were either well feed(rich) or seen as sickly thin(poor)...The idea of food and mind control did not go hand and hand

Or course now with modern science the understanding is that less bodyweight is healthier then more bodyweight...And with most people even the poor(in the states anyway) food is in abundance...(What other country can you have bums that live on the street that are over 300 pounds)...Now food and control go hand and hand...And with the amount of addicting chemicals that are pumped into the food supply...Everyone's control is tested...And with this system, the weak will be easily weeded out...Those world bankers are some crude mother fuckers...Ironically most of them are fat bastards to boot...Go figure...Very telling that these bastards can be brought down..For as powerful as they are and they do make the earth spin, they do show a weakness...They to can be controlled by something...

Eating 3 times a day isn't the problem, it's WHAT people eat that's the problem.

not only what but how much....if your just joe schmoe that comes home form work and sits on the couch watching reality tv drinking a soda or beer and your stuffing your face 2-3 times a day till you feel like your going to burst then theres a huge part of your problem...moderation can work wonders..

bullshit

I read about that in an old flex. Said he would have 1 meal a day, get something like 4000cals in one sitting. Would apparently eat like 5lbs of meat at once. Sounds weird, but he said it.

hahaha...

However when it comes from gluttony, Alex23 knows this very well in material items(hummer-small dick etc) and the fact that he was possibly one of the fattest on getbig..
