The New Zealand Rugby Sevens team has won 7 of the 8 World Sevens Series events. Since 2000 when the series first started, the only time they have not won was in 2006 when Fiji were crowned champions.

    * Commonwealth Games Gold Medal 1998
    * World Sevens Series Winners 2000
    * World Sevens Series Winners 2001
    * Rugby World Cup Sevens Winners 2001
    * World Sevens Series Winners 2002
    * Commonwealth Games Gold Medal 2002
    * World Sevens Series Winners 2003

It got a whole 10 seconds at the end of ESPN sportscenter.not them winning but them beating USA.

Around me it is. We call Detroit Hockeytown. I don't think it's too big in many other cities though.

hahahah, so good they got bounced out in the quarters of the World Cup this year!!! Talk about EMBARRASSING....by the Frenchies nonetheless!!!!

Far and away the best team in the world (maybe even the best NZ team ever) and they go out and get wrecked by Frenchies!

BTW The statistics there refer to 7 aside rugby... Quite different from normal rugby...

&7 a side is a much faster game and more enjoyable to watch.  The islands do very well at it and the national sevens side are real hereos in Fiji
