In the latest issue of Flex, Ronnie claims he was the main reason for the turnout of 7000 people.
I wonder if he also has a 30" waist?
-
I would be surprised if the 2008 attendance is as good as 2007.
I mean, last year everyone believed "The best man WILL win this show".
This year, personally, I believe the outcome is pretty much a given. Jay's gonna win 3 and retire.

Spoken like a sore loser.. "I might have lost the contest but dammit people liked ME better!!"

Ronnie speaks the truth. With the retirement of the legend Ronnie Coleman comes the retirement of most people's interest in Pro Bodybuilding. There will never be another bodybuilder as amazing as Ronnie. There is no one out there now and no one on the horizon.
-
nobody wants to pay all that money to see a shitty jay cutler win mr.o again, bodybuilding will continue to decline until he retires...then the battle for the new mr. o will be wolf vs heath vs martinez, 2009 will be a resurgence in bb if this were to happen imo

I'm going to the Arnold, but I won't be payin got go to the O. We already know Jay's gonna win, regardless of condition.
-

Listen folks ..This is the absolute truth !!

I would not doubt that Ronnie was the reason for such a big turn out due to the fact that people wanted to see him break the record. Also, I am sure the Coleman and Cutler rivarly added to the attendance.

This kind of talk is very unhealthy for the sport. People all over youtube, bb.com and getbig are saying that jay will win 2008 no matter what he or anyone else looks like, and i agree. You would think the 'powers that be' would understand this, that when all of your fans think the olympia is fixed it isnt good for the sport, but it seems like they dont care.
Hopefully the 08 olympia attendance is around 500 people and the ifbb gets the message.

Damn, that's a lot of gay people. Was there a "pride parade" before the event or something?

If I were to go, it would be for Ronnie. Ronnie is the fuckin man! No one else in the show would be half as interesting as him. The guy that brought the sport to it's highest level. The greatest ever. His last Olympia!

Ed, very true. I'm not even sure if the human body is capable of being bigger and more shredded than Ronnie was. Time will tell I guess.
I found it interesting in Vegas when a cabbie told me that he and his colleagues will feel the Mr. Olympia because it is over 20,000 people coming to the expo. I think the overall numbers mean more than ticket sales. I actually have little interest in actually watching the show again. It is boring and impossible to see anything even if you have good seats.
-
That was my first "O". I went for the rivalry, which was very good hype.
I won't be going back anytime soon. I was disappointed with the end result.
That being said, if the Arnold was held in a warmer state then I would attend it at least once.
I refuse to go to Ohio in cold weather months.
If I am going to spend thousands of dollars, I want to be on the beach or poolside sipping mixed drinks and working on my tan.

The Arnold is a zoo. I would prefer to go to the Olympia and I hear that the Ironman is pretty relaxed and has a decent expo.

As I had stated in previous posts, I went lower to the better seats. I forgot who....stuntman suggested that I bring binoculars I did, never had a bad view between the better seats and binoculars.
At times, it was much more interesting in the audience than it was on the stage.
We, who follow this business really are a cult.

Bodybuilding was already declining since Arnold left the game

the only reason 2007 had a surge in popularity was the fact that in 2006 the judges didn't give the bloated gut,
atrophied and lop sided Coleman yet another sandow gift. (Actually 2nd was a gift.)
it wasn't because of coleman even though he is surrounded by people blowing smoke up his ass telling him so.

modesty has never been a strong suit for ronnie.
