I don't mean just beeing ok with it, making the best out of a place you go every day (or should go every day)
But who here really really likes his gym... and please state what are the reasons you like your gym better than others.
-
I like my gym because it is a better then average gym with all the free weights and machines you need to train .
It is at my work and I train as long as I want everyday and get paid to do so.
there is also hardly ever anybody in there so I have it too myself most of the time ,another good reason
-
Only half the people I go with have a membership at my gym. I'd venture that in that respect, financially, my gym is better than most.
-
I like my gym because it never gets too crowded, its a pretty relaxed place (no one complains), and whilst compared to the average American gym, its equipment levels and machines and shit arent as good, its got everything i need. I genuinely enjoy being there.

I get paid to train at my gym,
I get paid 30hr
that is almost a pro paycheck
-
I like my gym because it's owned by a former Mr Olympia. 8)
A good hardcore place to train, great cameraderie and atmosphere amongst the guys in there and all the equipment you'll ever need - wouldn't change it for anything.
Any of you Americans visiting England, stop by and train here if you can - I recommend it.
-
I like my gym because its no nonsense. Dumbbells go up to 200lbs with all the latest hammer strength and cybex equipment. Lots of cardio machines and a no idiot members that get in the way and cause chaos in the gym. Gold's rocks!
-
MY gym rocks....
- 99% of the people there can't speak in our mother tongue....
- in the morning you have a maid and her vacuum cleaner as workoutpartners
- bars and plates don't fit
- equipment seems to be from the WW2 era
-
The Best Damn Gym in the Land!

there's a gym by my house that I love, I don't go to it all the time cause I work on the other side of town but it's a great gym..lots of powerlifters, lots of BBer's, tons of great equipment-some old nautilus machines, a bunch of hammer strength machines, db's used to go up to 160's or so but I don't think they have those anymore...great old equipment...old standing calf raise, seated calf raise, low row..old preacher curl bench. Plays rock music really loud and they have a "pit" outside that's cool as hell in the summer time. Just a great gym.....

oh I did not think anyone on this board actually trained...

the complete absence of irish and germans in it

World's is okay, the fitness center is just kinda for cardio.
-
I like my gym because everyone puts back their weights in the proper place.
-
One of my gyms, a little used, out of the way place with about 20 members (supported by the town and meant for the 'community)...has the ACTUAL dumbells that Katz used in pumping iron while training in coach's garage.
Those in and of themselves make it worthwhile to train there, at least once in a while.

ah you train in the Temple Gym or what is the once called from Dorian Yates? I meet Yates a while ago, he's a very nice polite person.
-
Do you ever put on a really ratty old wifebeater and do one arm dumbbell side raises with those dumbbells just for nostalgic reasons?

I like the gym I work out at because I own it ;)
-
I absolutly love the gym I work and workout at... We sit at a crossroads next to a college town with a girl:guy ratio of around 5:1. It's absurd, I have been working here 2.5 years and every year theres an endless influx of girls.

I also train at Dohertys.
There are plenty of heavy weights, and guys that train really hard.
The personal trainers are also body builders so they dont give you crap advice like the other skinny runt pts.

Hey guys, I just logged on and saw all these comments on my gym. That is way cool. Thanks for the heads up!. There are some great images here .... http://www.dohertysgym.com/forum/viewforum.php?forum_id=33
I think most gyms have lost their way.
Our mission is to smash the boundaries, to do it bigger and better and to do it our way. To achieve this we provide an ever improving, unique and motivating atmosphere. An environment where athletes and individuals, with a common goal of self improvement can congregate and share in knowledge and experience. They will not be restrained by time of day, or by pathetic fitness industry trends and standards, but by their desire to be their best.
