I know the US justice system is less than fair, especially when it comes to
Foreingn people smuggling drugs, but let's ask the Lawyers, Law Students, Police men/woman here at getbig.
Whats the best and the worse outcome for Hide with the charges (and if they all stick) currently agains him.
-
best - acquittal on distribution charges and conviction for personal use. result - probation and probably deportation
worst - conviction on all counts and 3-5 year sentence. time served 12-16 months and followed by deportation.

It's not the end but the beginning of a new life for him. He will probably think about his crime and will try to be a better man.

Sounds about right (Unless the facts of the case are different than what we're assuming).
Most of us are probably more familiar with criminal law than we are with immigration law, though. As far as I know, if you're not a permanent resident and you get convicted of anything at all, you're deported. For how long is the unknown fact.
