Well, considering i have a Masters degree just like Nasser and in a PhD program (squadfather doubted me on this and posted stuff to prove this), I consider myself just as successful. Also, already been published in two scientific journals and have presented papers at psychological conferences. And yes, I am in my profession, but only part time until I finish my program. So, take that bullshit about Nasser being more accomplished and shove it up your ass!
And even though it was not directed toward me, your attitude that Nasser is superior is prevelant throughout the board and not just to goatboy.

One of the journals was a Developmental psychology journal and it impacted the lives of others by adding to research which people can use practical implications :) But most importantly, it added more power to the body of research that already exists.

Even all these Nasser debates started from just a few pro-Nasser posts, which resulted in people repying and hating on Nasser, me defending him, then back and fourth and it kept growing until now there's always several threads every day about Nasser! This started around October/07 and has escalated since then. However, it started with the aggressive pumpkinheads hating on Nasser, and ends in Team Nasser defending him...so we're not the ones who are going out of our way to tell people Nasser is better than them!

This is what happened as Nasser just told me on the phone:
Shortly after the 2001 Olympia Nasser was guest posing in Germany and his wife called him asking for a divorce. They had some disagreements at him always being out of town/country and her feeling neglected but he did not know it was this serious, so he told her to wait at home and that they would discuss it in person when he returns. He came back to San Diego with his mother, and when he arrived at home lots of the furniture was missing but more extravagant there were police at his door who issued him a restraining order to not come within 90 yards of his wife.
You are not allowed to hire a private investigator while under a restraining order in California, so he got his parents to hire two private investigators to figure out what's going on. From their research, it turned out that she had been cheating on him for a few years, and was currently with a second guy (the first one being for about 19 months). Nasser owned a condo complex which his wife would manage, and for 19 months she was allowing one tenant she was seeing not to pay any rent. Later she met another guy on the beach while walking Sato when Nasser was travelling like he usually did. This guy worked out at the same gym as Nasser, and only lived 5 minutes away from him. He found out all this information from the two private investigators.

Wow- i step away from getbig for awhile and the Nasser threads seem to have mutated. What's the story on Nassers marriage? I saw Bobs had posted something on Nasser divorce but I've yet to read it. More teasers for the book? Anyway Nasser as a topic has outlived its usefulness. We had a good laugh and now its time to move on.

We all know how good and bad news travel fast in this industry, and how easy it is to get criminal reports on anyone with such a past. It's a serious offense anyone cannot dispute, even after the fact. But would you want this kind of rap against a Mr. Olympia? No. Would the judges allow this kind of misconduct behind the best physique to represent the sport and federation? No. Would supplement companies support endorsements with this fact behind their spokesperson? No. We all want someone who is outstanding in the profession, and outstanding in their personal life. Nasser could've been the best contender for the crown, but "domestic violence" cloud over on any such opportunity.

So why would she (a) drop the charges, and (b) get such a good deal in the divorce proceedings? Could b and a be linked? And why would Nasser ever let her back in to stay with her if she got that rich in the divorce proceedings (couldn't she afford a hotel with the $70k dog money?) and she cheated on him?

I am reading a book, nothing well known, that basically summarizes but in pretty dense detail all of the great philosophers, starting with the Greeks and forward to Einstien. The early philosphers were a great read because there was so much spirituality in those philosphies even if the philosopher themselves did not believe in God there was always room to believe there was something greater than ourselves. As the book goes forward the philosophies seem to get more and more dark, especially when you hit the 19th and 2oth century philosphers, they leave little room for any spiritual belief. Its wierd because I have always enjoyed the ridicule that atheist hurl at religious instituitions and support it whole heartedly but when someone actually 'proves' that there really truly is no other existance out of this one it can be quite depressing and unsettling.
So the answer is I have not read much about philosphy or really much about Nietzsche aside from this book.

You have proven nothing to me, nothing. I have no idea if that residence belonged to NES. If it did then it was sold before the divorce - that he bitches he came off badly in. It doesn't seem like a proper valuation from a proper real estate website. We also have no idea how much of it he owned ,or anything about his mortgage arrangements. He might have been struggling to keep up with the payments for all we know, or he could have owned it outright. These are huge, gaping facts we don't have.

I tend to find a lot of paralells with existentialism, and bodybuilding. In fact it was the philosophical aspect of bodybuilding that attracted me to it, not the superficial. I was 14 and I read a copy of Arnold's: "The Education of a Bodybuilder." What fascinated me about it, even at that age, was the complete mastery that Arnold had over his life and surroundings. It became self-evident that this mastery was the result of his mental dominion, as opposed to his psyical gifts. He knew that in order to achive what he wanted in the psyical realm he first had to visualize it, accept it, and LIVE it.
Some would say that this is merely a form of self-delusion, and they would be correct, but what many do not understand, is that self-delusion is the key to a great many things. When one genuwinely believes that they will accomplish what they set out to do, (assuming that they also have an insane work ethic to match their delusion, and at least a modicum of talent in their endeavor), then they will find themselves living into their vision.
To be a bit more esoteric about this... I would say that this is also the foundation of what magickal/occultic theory is about.... its about subverting realtiy to your will. Bodybuilding is much the same thing... you have to have the will to conquer your greatest opponent... yourself... and you can extrapolate that to mean that if you have the power to overcome yourself... then all other obstacles in life become quite ordinary...and insignificant.
Another thing that fascinates me about all of this is the aspect of suffering... I know that my sucess will only be measured out in equal measure to my suffering. How much am I willing to suffer? How much pain can I push myself thru? Not just physical pain.... but mentally as well. Can I endure the monotony of a bodybuilding lifestyle, can I absolve myself of socialization that I would be enjoying if I were not entrenched in this? Can I deal with the fact that very few people can relate to what I am doing... much less those that would be in a romantic realtionship with me. The suffering one has to endure is very much a multilatteral affair.
Bodybuilding to me is just an extension of my mental war....my journey if you will. It is more of a mental endeavor then a physical one...as the mind and body are both interrelated...you can not have one function with out the other.... so where the mind goes the body will follow. We... (the people that have chosen to take this journey on)... are IMHO better then other people... not out of birthright... but because we made the decision to transcend the mundane. We are the ones that bang our heads agaisnt a wall day in and out...looking for a crack to follow. We made goals and we continue to fight inch by inch towards them. Not many others can relate to that... many people daydream... and bitch and moan... but very few have the balls to suffer for what they want out of life...
So there you have it... my meltdown! Lol ;)
