Post by: coltrane on January 25, 2008, 06:54:28 AM
some ppl eat oatmeal raw, whether just downing it with water, or mixing it into a shake, without cooking.

any thoughts on digestibility?     (don't be a smart ass Usmokepole >:()

I NEVER cooked it in my life.

I thought that's gross. I just pour it over a shake or mix it into yoghurt.

I grind up 1/2 c. in a blender with water for 30 sec. I use quick oats

Then add protein, oil and blend on a lower speed for a few seconds.

May add milk or a banana depending on calorie requirements for the day..

i did a tiny bit of searching the net and found one study where uncooked starch was less digestible than cooked.

It's just way more convenient for me NOT to have to cook the oats up.

i only eat it once a day so i cook it. the blender gets hard to clean when i put that stuff in it (and putting fishoil in a blender is even worse!)

but it isnt uncommon to put it as it is in a shake or blender

I mix a cup in with 40 g's of whey (in a gatorade bottle) in water and let it soak for 5 minutes before I down it...

every morning and after every work out....maybe throw in some raisons with it
