Sylvester Stallone has praised the banned bodybuilding substance human growth hormone (HGH), saying prescription testosterone “increases your quality of life”.
The 61-year-old action star was convicted in May 2007 for importing human growth hormone product Jintropin into Australia.
But he insists the substance – which is used by athletes and bodybuilders to grow muscle and is banned in professional and amateur sports - is “not a steroid”, and claims “everyone over 40” should try it.
He told Time magazine: “Human growth hormone helped me to get up to 209lbs for the new Rambo movie, which is 40lbs heavier than I was for the last one 20 years ago.
“Human growth hormone is nothing. Anyone who calls it a steroid is grossly misinformed.
“Testosterone to me is important for a sense of well-being when you get older. Everyone over 40 years old would be wise to investigate it because it increases your quality of life.
“Mark my words, in 10 years it will be available over the counter.”
Stallone was arrested last year after 48 vials of Jintropin - which is banned under the Australian Customs Act - were found in his personal luggage at Sydney Airport.
In May, he pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing a controlled substance and was ordered to pay a £1267 ($2835) fine along with an estimated £4000 ($8950) court costs.
In a typed apology to the court, Stallone wrote: “I made a terrible mistake.
“I have never supported the use of illegal drugs or engaged in any illegal activities in my entire life. I wish to express my deepest remorse and again apologise for my actions.”

He's right. God forbid someone wants to improve their appearance or quality of life.

Ok, this right here is an extremely courageous thing to do. The cynical side of me says that he's simply attempting to justify his conviction but, nevertheless, I can't think of a single hollywood star or world class athlete that would actually further this type of discussion instead of hiding from it and apologising for their indiscretion.
HRT or simply hormone usage is very common in his industry but, just as much as it is common, it is also taboo. Much like amphetamine and cocaine use amongst high rollers and powerbrokers (including famous presidents) it is just not talked about because of the connotations attached.
Look no further than Arnold and the party line he follows ie "I used steroids but they were legal back then and I was young and stupid." As if the guy doesn't use these drugs himself.
Congratulations to Mr Stallone for choosing not to be a hypocrite.
-
Stallone could be the man to bring legitimacy to hgh and steroids in the eyes of the general public
plus the new Rambo movie is fcking sweet
-
be careful what you wish for, do you guys really want test and gh to go mainstream?
-
Yes because no matter what, there will be *hopefully* people like us who know better and will still stand out from the pack.
-
errrr, if hgh and roids went mainstream bodybuilders wouldn't look any different to the rest
-

Overall, it's better to make everything legal and just let people choose what they want to do NYC. As with everything else, the pattern of consumption will take the standard bell-shaped curve - there'll be people who abuse some of those substances and hurt themselves in some way or the other (like alcohol) and there'll be others who won't touch the stuff, with most people being in-between.
Legalize those substances, set up usage guidelines and leave it to the individual to choose what they want to do with their body. It'll only improve things, at least taking into consideration all the implications of the black market trading, quality control blah, blah, blah

Of course we do. Not everyone is going to start stepping on stages if it becomes legal. Stallone is right, TRT and HRT improve the quality of life for men even in their 30's. Like I said in a similar post, I don't want to be held back by aching joints, having to take a nap ever 30 minutes or not be able to have sex with my wife when I'm at that age. HRT and TRT allows for a quality of life to continue on into old age. I'm not interested in living longer, I'm just interested in being able to have fun with my family, chase the little ones around the yard and not have to worry about any of the above problems. Legalization of these drugs will drive the cost down and make it easier for everyone to enjoy the quality of life they deserve.

Totally agree!

Thats the best way. Look at Holand. They consume more Marifana than US or Spain?

perhaps, but i wonder how many people live in holand purely for that privilege.
freedom of choice is the only way to go for contemporary societies. this is an age of massive amounts of up to date information. people are not as easily fooled anymore.
-
The GH era...oh man. People need to accept they get old, go to the gym, and cut the bullshit. ;D Just more bullshit really...ahha
-
He kind of looks like he has a bit of HGH jaw as well, or am I just imagining that?
-
Dunno about the abuse part but use? Ya, by definition right? What am I missing?
-
be careful what you wish for, do you guys really want test and gh to go mainstream?
yes and no
yes because i'm sick of hearing the nonsense about people signing their death certificate the moment they use it
no because the main reason muscles are cool is the fact most guys don't have them

only because he was busted overseas. Twice.
-
209lbs-40lbs=169lbs for the previous Rambo movie....wow.
-
only because he was busted overseas. Twice.
twice???? when was the 2nd time, and i need fact from legit Sources
-
Good for him. It takes allot to go against the status quo sometimes, especially on this subject.
Not to many people would have the balls to publicly endorse such a topic that everyone knows ***(note the "sarcasm" in the word knows)*** is pure evil
X
-
Love stallone for this..
Anti depressants, Viagra, Cialis etc are being sold like hotcakes around the globe, i dont see how hgh is a big deal.

I'd bet he wasn't natural then either
-
i would prefer HGH and roids to be legal with a RX. That way people are force to get tests to monitor their bodies under use.
-
Saw the interview with him tonight with hannity.....he looked great. As most of you have probably guessed, I agree with him 100% on HRT!
-
be careful what you wish for, do you guys really want test and gh to go mainstream?
Why not? It's already widespread
-
It's more common than you might think, not just actors and athletes but a lot of the general public are using HRT as part of a wellness plan. Its getting more and more accepted in the mainstream.

yeah, gh15 is pretty accurate with most of his claims about the american public. i've read some studies that estimate 3 million people in america use AAS, and about 15-30% of people in gyms are using

you're right Joe and, like Sly, you're also smart to investigate hrt (although i know you were already well versed on the subject ;D)
the only reason why men have not had the same access to hrt as women have (for decades) is because of machismo tendencies to view hrt as a sign of weakness. they are just too proud to admit that they are not as strong and virile as they were in their 20s. the irony is that these clowns (who btw are the ones passing and rejecting bills in caucus on our freedom) are so weak and pathetic physically that a 20 year old woman would probably have more testosterone circulating in their bodies.
i hope that when i get to the age where hrt will be useful that intelligence has prevailed so i don't have to jump through hoops just to attain quality of life.

stallone has pushed the envelope in terms of his own physique decade after decade and now he sings the praises of hgh/hrt that means he can cover up his past use and say he just does it now,i mean would he really need it when he has been in great shape half his life?
-
Maybe moviestars and other popular individuals will finally show the innocence of steroids and other chemicals. After that it's the media going in another direction, and BOOM the bad rep. and misinformation about steroids are gone.
It's like smoking, totally unacceptable and the beginning of the 20's centery. After some hot commercials it was hot and acceptable.
-
errrr, if hgh and roids went mainstream bodybuilders wouldn't look any different to the rest
Yeah, steroids and hgh will automatically make you big without working out/eating like a maniac ::)

Quote from TIME:
....Stallone pumped up to a freakish 209 lbs. (95 kg); in Rambo II he weighed only 168 (76 kg). And, he insists, he did it without steroids, though with the help of a prescription testosterone.....

let's be real. stallone has used anabolic drugs for almost his entire career, including all the rambo movies.
he was much more shredded for rambo 11 and 111 than his latest venture, which explains the lighter body weight.

Don't forget that Franco Columbu trained him for Rambo II. Probably put him on a nice "Olympian" stack :D
