4 years.

I've had three 4-year full-on live-with-him relationships:  Patrick, a builder, when I was 18-22; Daniel the photographer when I was 25-29, and Nick the bike mechanic when I was 32-36.

All 3 were wonderful, gorgeous, funny and fit, but after 4 years I either got bored or all of a sudden realised I wasn't going to get married and have kids.

so I'm single...

My parents were married 21yrs when they died , my longest romantic relationship was 7 yrs but have had tons of wonderful relationships since that ended . I don't feel the whole lifetime commitment thing , not from lack of example it's from personal choice.

Platinum celebration for couple

A PLATINUM wedding is such a rare event, many people might ask - how many years is that then?
Frank and Elsie Heywood

Holmbridge couple Frank and Elsie Heywood know exactly how long.

They have spent the past 70 years as man and wife.

Living with the same person for all that time is difficult to imagine for most of us.

Which makes the long and happy marriage of Frank, 92 and Elsie, 91, a doubly large achievement.

The couple, who live at Church View, were married at Holmbridge Church on December 16, 1933.

They had met as teenage sweethearts when they were both just 16.

Frank was working in a mill in Holmbridge and Elsie was visiting an aunt who lived at nearby Ramsden.

Elsie, who lived in Royston near Barnsley at the time, said: "My aunt had a baby and I would push the pram down to a sweet shop, opposite the mill, to meet my uncle.

"One day my husband's friend from the mill came to the shop and went back to the factory saying he had seen this girl, which was me.

"My husband later came in to the shop and that was it from then on."

I googled and found this, the above ^^^, in the Huddersfield General Enquirer...

STella, why are you reading the front page of the Huddersfield weekly local paper?  Or did this news make it across the pond?

It is such lovely news.

Didn't make front page or any page in London, or the BBC news, so I'm so pleased you found it, otherwise I would never have seen it.

Love the fact that I saw it on an American fitness website!

xxx

ps:  It's "have" been married, not "had": they're still alive and are still in love!

The longest exclusive romantic relationship I've ever had was with my 1st boyfriend.
We lasted for 7 yrs. I was 14 and he was 21. By the time I was 21, I realized I couldn't marry him  :'(

pss:Sybil,
Using "seen" is inappropriate if verbs like am; be; being; has, had, or have; and, is, don't precede "seen".

**note**
above was taken from answerbag.com , in reply to the question
when is approriate to use the word "seen"

oh thank you for the English lesson, I just love your accent !

I was simply stating and reiterating the fact that these two lovely people are still together after 70 years.  They've lived through two World Wars.

Are you attempting to go off topic and also presuming to correct my grammar while you're at it?  Is that an American Dictionary you are citing?  No wonder you can't understand it...  (lol)

Does my head in when people can't post about the topic we're discussing and choose instead to take every opportunity possible to bash.

take care
xL

We were talking about longish relationships and I hope others are able to come back to the topic after your digression.  But I am no longer surprised that the Girly Board is impossible to even bother with for most.

okay I can contribute to this thread (again...

Patrick, my first ever livewith boyfriend:  I lived with him in Toronto when I was 18 and I left him when I was 22.  blah blah I went on to do extremely well in TO and have another 4 year relationship with a bloke I've just found out is now divorced and still talks about me.  I digress...

I'll be surprised if you don't accuse me of talking too much at this point.  Plus I may or may not have already told this story.

Anyways, 15 years later, after I've moved back to England and my father has retired to Vancouver Island, BC, I went to visit my Dad.

So I'm walking along a trail in the middle of nowhere with my new step sister.  My father remarried and gave me a lovely new family.  Kellie and I hiked miles and saw noone.  This is 9am on a Monday morning in the mountains near Campbell River,  two hours north of Nanaimo and a half hour drive to the Creek.

We're walking along, having a nice chat.  Then a bloke with a dog is coming the other way.  He nods at my step sister and then sees me.  I would not have recognised him unless he had said "Linda?

It was Pat, a generation older, 3,000 miles away each way from Toronto.  He told me some amazing stories about myself I'd forgotten.  He took me to see the BeeGees 3 times.  lolololol.  I'd so not remembered that.  Obviously I brought him home to meet my Dad again.  That was hilarious.

Patrick also told me he still wanks about me which is, I guess, kinda nice.

When I got home I remembered why I left him.  He was too possessive and he spent all our rent money on drugs.

I flew home to London England as planned.

think I'm going to email the second boyfriend, Dani the photographer who still lives in TO

You'd remember him.  Fantastic body, wonderful personality?  Amazing smile?  I lived for 7 years and he built his first darkroom above the stamp shop at 92 Ave Road next to Auberge Gavroche when he was just outta high school.

His last name begins with A.  After I left, (on or around my 30th birthday, he was 22ish), he immediately married some woman I can't recall the name of but her double-barrelled named mother owned a multi-million dollar company making condiments and she had a license plate to prove it.

He's 100% Canadian, but half Italian and half Argentinian.  His website is fantastic.

I've also recently heard that he's single and living in a high rise on Eglinton.  I had this mad dream the other night.  I decided to make an appointment with Vogue, go in and sell him and then invite him to London, all expenses paid plus commission.  I used to do stuff like that.  It'd be lovely to see him again, before I'm 30/40/50

Off topic, but responding to Judi:   nothing was deleted, I just hit the return button by mistake after I'd created an empty box to type in, so that explains that.  I was up extremely late last night getting irate (I-rate, get it?) on your website.

I was thinking though, of perhaps going back to the other board and suggesting a thread in which we discuss whether or not we think it's appropriate that Mike uses Laura's mod status?

But at least discussing these seriously important although silly matters on another board makes men come to the Girly Board.

Hey I notice 240 is back!  Gonna go read him now.  Where's Ali-G, ProF and/or YMBL?

You need help so I'm going to try really hard here

She was NOT posting to you , you do have serious issues and this is not the place for you to come.
Your recent behavior exhibits a severe attention disorder.
You are attempting with this post to not only "rile" others but also cause people to post in reply to you .
You are not only exposing yourself as pitiful you appear as a mental case who has no self control and even less than zero interest in the industry the board represents.
You need to google "Support Forums for bi-polars with a multiple personality disorder"

Please stop trying to instigate unrest in the girl's area and go play in the alphabet boards.

You have no reason to stay I'm certain jag will be your e-mail buddy. You don't like anyone here and say things about people for no reason.
The fact you bring Mike and Laura into this last post and the reference is so childish and unecessary it makes me sick.

I can see why people are giving you so much slack but I don't think YOU appreciate it.

You are a sad lonely person who has began to think of these members as "company".So do as we here in America do and treat your company KIND and be a better person.

Your not getting anyone to do much more than pity you , how good can that feel ?

Are you really enjoying knowing how you are perceived ?

Playing puppeteer , pulling strings , instigating incessantly until you get a response is retarded.

Trying to get men's attention is serving you how ?

Placing their names in your post will get you where ?

stop it while you still are able to be on the board and not in timeout

you can only push the limit so far

Wow, some really romantic stories here, lol.  ;D

Linda, Linda, Linda.  Could you please hit the self destruct button now?  ::)

Michael does not use my account.  He had once or twice in the past to mess with your posts and only your posts (ok, maybe one of jags but I can't be 100 % sure, lol) because you are a nuisance and your posts are long, boring, don't make much sense and beg for attention (as stated by EVERYONE on this board) BUT he has not logged in as me since back then.  So get off that old song and dance.
