I read in his MD column that he had a heart attack. Anyone know how old he is?
-
early 50s i believe
-
I guess in his 50ties... too young too die.
-
they put a stent in his heart. his troponin levels were insanely high due to stress. he was in the hospital for 4 days.
scary. he looks to be in incredible shape.
-
That's bad news if true.
I hope for a speedy recovery
-
Glass is always easy to talk to at venice golds and expos......Hope he stays well. 8)
-
I heard about it, but it was mild. I saw him last Satuday at the American Gladiator tryouts at Gold's Venice, and he was there, talking, training and having a good time. Looked fine to me.

Yeah with a stent is almost an outpatient procedure. No more cutting into the chest. Its good they caught it in time before it clogged completely..
-
Glad to hear he's doing OK. Can we get him to post here? :)

I had a stent put in Monday. You can get back to your routine in most cases in a matter of days.
Could you elaborate on the relationship of the elevated troponin levels and stress?

If you only have a cardiac catheterization, you will go home same day.
If they see that there is a blockage(s), they will stent you and likely keep you overnite for observation.
That's what they did with me.

I could be a real dick here Moosejaw, but I hope everything works out OK for you. ;)

Dude was an awesome poser back in the day.. You guys should check out some youtube clips of him posing in the 80's.
I hope he stays healthy.

Yeah, but even 3 days is better than getting your rib-cage cut open. Hope all goes well. Make sure to take your medicines...

No, you are not a dick. Thanks, my friend, I already feel better...but I must say, when there is a problem with the heart (Vs other, more common injuries...breaks, sprains, tears)...it scares shit out of you.

Too bad you're stuck in the 80's as an awesome poser...... :D

Agreed.
Yes...now I get Lipitor, Atenolol, and nitro for chest pain.

I think Glass won his class in either the USA or Nationals in the early 80's, when they first started NPC...another of his contemporaries who was of similar build was Chuck Williams..
Mike

Cholesterol meds are very dangerous and not needed anyway. I would never in a million years take that shit.

Sorry to hear that Charles Glass had a heart attack a few mouths ago. I hope he gets well soon.

Did you ever use steroids? Did clogging of the artieries cause your heart attack?
-
Charles was born in 1955. Tim would probably know the exact date or check www.musclememory.com and see if its listed (and for other great info). He said on PBW that he works from 6AM to 10PM or something equally ridiculous I believe. It's not a surprise that this would happen in light of his workload.

Agreed, esp. Lipitor...I will consume only until my lipid profile improves.

Yes, from 1982 to 1990 I used them in cycles.
Idiopathic ventricular dysfunction is one of my dx's...the pressure in these champbers is double what it should be.

Is this what Blondie was singing about in 'Heart of Glass'?

Charles was born in 1950, so he will be 58 this year.

I totally believe those hours and them being commensurate with his poor-health outcome.
Until very recently, I routinely worked 100 hour weeks and would spend literally two days in a row at my office, not going home and touching a bed, but working continuously.
Yes...with hindsight, I know this to be very stupid, causative of my problems (to an extent) and will never live this way again.

Read this book. I bought it, but here it is for you in downloadable fashion. Also, if possible take the time to get an EBT Scan. It will show blockage and it is non invasive. Both the book and the info in it can quite possibly save your life. :)

Exercise does not prevent blockage!! Steroids have little if anything to do with it also. It's all diet and or lack of nutrients.

Thanks...I will do this.
What is the 'EBT Scan'?
Like electro diagnostic procedure? Already had dopplers, contrast scans, etc., but need more tests.

My lot was cast via family history...good diet and exercise (albeit sullied from about 8 years early steroid use) did little to prevent a total colesterol of about 300.

Probably, but roids do raise blood pressure and raise bad cholesterol. This could certainly contribute to a heart of Glass. I wouldn't go as far as to say that roids would be the cause. They could be a factor though.

Go here. http://www.prevahealth.com/ It will give you all the info that you need. Unfortunatley there are not that many machines in the US but you can do a search. It is totally non invasive. Of course, you may have more going on than just blockage so if it were me I would also want to get the other tests too.

Yeah family history BUT!!! I am not such a big fan of that theory. Your body needs certain nutrients to replicate organs such as for example your arteries.

How'd you do at the tryouts Ron? Are you in :) ;)

Cholesterol meds like Lipitor wreak havok on joints not to mention the muscular pain associated with it. Controls one problem while creating another.

Glass was born November 18, 1950.

They are also starting to worry that statins could 'turn on' certain cancer genes

Yes.

Then I wonder who writes Charles' column for MD? In the issue where Don Youngblood's death was written about in numerous columns (John Romano's, Chad's, Charles'), Charles stated that he was one year younger than Don (born in 1954). In the same article, Charles stated that the last time he remembered seeing Youngblood compete was at the 2003 Mr. Olympia which was false.

That`s why Joe Roark writes for Flex! :)

Joe, any references for that?

Surely it can't stress related, can it? Mr. Glass looks like he ALWAYS be blazing.

The docs love to throw in the old 'stress' diagnosis. Controlling it is another matter

This is among the greatest posts I've ever seen anywhere on the internet. Agreed.
