In my book,Mohamed Makkawy and Bob Paris are living artistic statues. And i want to look like them..
Mmmmm Why those gays pose very artistic...?
-
In my book,Mohamed Makkawy and Bob Paris are living artistic statues.
True, true, true. Bob Paris had crazy abs and I think he was tall. Like over 6 feet. He was like a statue back in those days. Sort of like Haidar but taller and better poser.
-
Will he be his typical pedantic and supercilious self?
Will he try to educate us stupid illiterates to his far superior point of view?
Will he take long pauses as he tries to phrase everything in the biggest words he kind find?
This guy is a pretentious wind bag.
-
I read his "Beyond Built" book in the early 90s. Still one of the best bodybuilding books I've ever seen. Just complete coverage of every topic. I'd buy it again today, but I think it's out of print. Probably the best bodybuilding book not called the Arnold Encyclopedia. :)
His "Gorilla suit" book went into his personal issues a lot more. I read that one a few years later.
-
Should be a good interview..
Dan, ask Bob Paris if he believes that politics in the IFBB re: his sexual preference cost him placings in his pro career and was that what prompted his retirement from competition?
-
His departure from the IFBB was the end of an era (actually maybe a bit after that era had already passed, based on his contest history) of that truly classic look.
-
Looking forward to it. Thanks.

What ? You haven't read Gorilla Suit (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0312168551) ?
-
Will he discuss why he no longer is married to his "man" and who his new "man" is now?
Will the subject of gay even be brought into the subject of the interview -
-

No Tim, I haven't read Gorilla Suit. I don't think it was released in Australia.

that flex cover up closer to top thread is absolutley the epitome of real bbing for people who appreiciate a good build, some people would consider it still too big, that is perfect too me,just enough of everything.
-
very under rated in my opinion

Hmmm...why is it that 'Andrew1' ONLY posts the opening thread title for PBW but nobody under the PBW staff is named ANDREW?
I'm just simply curious. Andrew? Bob? Please?
-
Will he discuss why he no longer is married to his "man" and who his new "man" is now?

I think if Bob Paris is the guest, they HAVE to ask him about being a gay pro bodybuilder. Isn't that the main reason why he became so famous?
-
I still think he's getting owned in this shot but whatever....he was a great BB...
-
Another great show in store. Looking forward to Dan, Bob and Pep's predictions.

4. Toney Freeman
5. Will Harris
6. Johnnie Jackson
7. David Henry
8. Demond Miller
9. Troy Alves
10. Armin Scholz

Pretty close to mine. I'd flip 3 and 4. I'd be interested to see what improvements Desmond has made to his back to improve his V-taper and what Armin Scholz brings because that guy has no weaknesses and might shock everyone. Both of those guys have the potential to move up the ranks.

Bob talking about the Ironman classic...

Bob sounds like he has a stuffy nose. And he's 5'6" on a good day.

I saw Bob Paris guest pose back in 1988 and he was a big guy. He was probably the best poser i've ever seen

Toney is one of my favorite bodybuilders. He could be challenging for the title without a doubt but I think it will take him the IRONMAN as a tune up and he'll be spot on at the Arnold.
Phil is improved all around - back included. You'll see in a few short days.
-
what did haney weigh back then? I'd like to see a pic of them side-by-side, to see who wins on size, and who wins on shape.

I hope he isnt using the ironman as a tune up, he needs to place well in this contest more than anyone. especially because how he looked at last years O.
This years ironman needs to be redemption.

I agree but just my opinion on what we'll see. Will I be right? Guess we'll see in a few days.

Bob Paris is at a higher level of thinking than Bob or Dan can ask with some intelligent questions to this interview.
Kind of funny actually
-
ahaha JAY CUTLER CALLED IN. look out. he's talking about bob's book. Cutler reads!
-
All drugs
;D
-
Pretty cool of Jay to call in. Bob sounds more like a chess player than a pro BBer though. Jay said he was going to slim down greatly the minute he retires.
-
Paris was 6'0" and at the 1988 Mr Olympia he weighed in at 226 Pounds and Haney was 243 pounds , Paris was one of the bigger competitors
-
Very cool of Jay to call in.
Pepe is spot on with his assessment of the weight class idea.
-
Dan and Bob
One of your best shows yet. You were able to cover so much relevant ground with your questions. You both came across as extremely well prepared and knowledgeable regarding Paris' life and career. The feeling of the interview was easy, confident and smooth but also interesting and compelling . . . basically, everything a good interview should be. The addition of Jay near the end of the hour was absolutely perfect. The questions that you directed towards Jay (and his thoughtful responses) really added dimension to the show . . . what could have just been a surprise "cameo" by him instead truly enhanced Paris' appearance on the show.
Great job.
-
Needs to update it's budget
Crap sucks tonight. Keeps having tech. difficulties
-

I agree on your wt class comment, it is a good addition to any show.
I enjoyed Jay calling in as well.
Bob Paris is a class act and very intelligent.
His book ; " Gorilla Suit" is a must read fr any serious bodybuilder. The interesting part is how some kid living in his car in S Cal and being a top pro in just a 3 yr period.
Granted he deals with the topic of his sexuality and his struggle to deal with being gay.
He deals with it in a tasteful , pretty real and objective manner however.
I pick Freeman to win the Ironman again (Bob Chic and Pepe just picked him as well)
Howard

no he is not, he is just pedantic and takes himself to seriously. Truly smart people dont 'act' smart, they are usually down to earth and very witty.
-

Surprising to hear Cutler say that he was a fan of Paris. Never would have guessed that. Physiques are polar opposites.

i was at the 91 mr olympia, bob did not look like 6'-2". not sure about the 240 pounds either.

He does not "try" to speak tha way. That is simply how he speaks. That is how it comes off when you have read thousands of books.

All due respect, NYCbull...you have used the word 'pedantic' at least twice...are YOU trying to look smart, by any chance?
Paris IS a smart and intelligent man. I don't know why that rubs your rhubarb in such a way.
