What are your picks?

"Bad Santa" is def in the top 5 for me.

I found Anchorman very funny also, but to rank it up there with the classics, I don't think so.

I like Unforgiven, Goodfellas and Scarface.  good choices.  Coming up with a top 5 is really hard to do.  I could come up with a top 5 for different genres but would have a hard time with an all time top five.  One thing is for sure, Bad Santa wouldn't be one.

I know everyone goes all gah-gah over Scarface, but the reality is the movie isn't that good.   Hip-hip negroid chocolate face spear chunkers that wanted to pretend they were badass gangsters made the a current hit.   The Godfather was a great Al Pacino movie.   Heat was  good Al Pacino movie.  Scarface was a decent Al Pacino movie.

what a cliche.  movie snobs are just like wine snobs; if you dont list the requisite choices then upturned noses stare back at you.  easy rider, chinatown, on the waterfront, taxi driver.....these are great movies but were much more relevant in their respective eras.  film, literature and music are different to everyone so starting an entire thread because someone found a movie funny and posted it two weeks ago on the Y board is pretty much a certified meltdown.

My top five Books!

A. Dancing Wu Li Masters-  A relatively simple explanation about Quantum Mechanics. Highly recommended for DaddyWaddy and others who like to think outside the norm.
B. The Count of Monte Cristo - A true classic and difficult to put down once you start.
C. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - A little read classic. The one that got me started reading books with a passion.
D. The Carpetbaggers - Harold Robbins' best about Hughes and Hoppy and the founding of Hollywood.
E. Gone With the Wind. How we used to be down South not so many years ago and "Frankly, I don't give a damn!"

Pick one, sit back, and enjoy!

nothing wrong with Lord of the Rings, I didn't bold it because I noted that your selection wasn't bad for a "youngling" Lord of the rings is current film era.  It's as much yours as mine.  The others are before your time.

#5 was a "High Fidelity" thing.  You know, where everything is a "Top 5."

Never seen Midnight, but he was right on as the pontifical well heeled uni kid in his brief scene in Woody Allen's Shadows & Fog.  Other than that... ya, everything from Say Anything to Pushing Tin was pretty plain.  At least he looks after his ugly sister.
