I think my world gym membership cameout to abut $50 a month. Prior to that I was working out at a hole-in-the-wall basement gym that was only $30 but still had everything I needed (pilates, yoga, room for shadow boxing).

School gyms are usually crowded. My college built a brand new gym complex but had a small free weights room which means you have to wait in line/ work in with 4-5 people, etc. To make matters worse they also began giving out memberships to the public. Luckily most gyms in the area were giving out coupons/discounted memberships.
-
$150 for the year...every year.
Gold's Vegas...roughly $3 per week...haah
-
US$ 75 +- but includes sauna, towel service, etc

some colleges subsidize gym memberships for faculty and staff, not sure about students, as part of a "wellness" program. at my school, university employees have an option to use the campus gym or to buy a discounted membership at LA fitness - the fee is around $35 per month, i think, and the initiation fee is waived. there is also no yearly contract, one can pay on a monthly basis.

there is another bodyplex on buford highway, i think they charge like $169 per year or so or maybe it was a new year's special

I drove through Cartersville a few months ago on my way to Atlanta...the "downtown" area is pretty cool looking. I stopped at some bar but can't remember what it was called.
Yes, it is an ideal palce to live in my opinion. We have a sports bar which caters to rockers and an Irish pub as well.
We have Bodyplex and GOLDS which are good gyms. The city sits on the edge of the NW georgia mts and is near a scenic state park, Red Top Mt.

I suspect it was a special. You can train at any other Bodyplex for a buck if you are member of any one of them.

24 Hour Fitness .... $9.00/month for any location for life on some "secret" special they offered years ago for "special" individuals. Good at any "24" except some sort of special place they have in Irvine, California. I think you pay an extra $20 a day there on a member's visitor's pass, but I'm never in the area to check it out. Has anyone ever seen it??
Las Vegas Athletic Clubs are top-notch with good equipment and child care and fancy interior running tracks circling the building in most cases. Judging from the parking lots at all hours of the day and night, they do one hell of a great business.
Gold's in Las Vegas seem to be hit or miss and I have yet to see any of them the least bit crowded unless they get busy from 5 - 7 in the evenings.
Both of the above clubs run about $30/month the last time I checked.
All these clubs have semi-high pressure sales techniques but I've been in the business too long and simply ask them to cut the sales bullshit and let me know what it costs to join for a 12 month period. And in those cases where I have joined, I never pay the "initiation" fee.

Yeah that one in Irvine has massage plus valet plus i guess some other stuff...i know more people who have that deal you have...it's worth it to keep that membership even if you don't go there all the time.

It sure is, Stark.

This might be a good spot to mention this ....
Back when Joe Gold actually owned Gold's Gym and it was in it's original location in Venice a block or so from the beach (back around '65) a few of us from the base checked it out and met Joe in the back doing some welding work on some new equipment.
We asked about membership fees and I recall him saying something like $24 to $36 dollars a year. Anyone recall the ACTUAL fee back then?
On that day there were a bunch of impressive So Cal football players doing squats and benches on some darn fine equipment personally made by Joe.
-
$1100
damn Bally's has gotten expensive

I am locked in with a franchise for $18.11 CDN bi-weekly. Works out to be $470.00 per year. Top of the line machines/weights/cardio. My rate never goes up as long as I am remain a member. I used to belong to a mom/pop gym. Thier rate was $535.00 for 08 with outdated equipment/poor set up and another price hike in 09.
-
200 bucks upfront for World's
20 a month for the fitness chain
-
AU$36, 440 cash up front for 12 months, no contract, no joining fee
-
$64 a month, though there is going to be a price rise soon, so i might bepaying near $900 a year or so soon. Fucking gyms in Aus are a rip off >:(
-
I pay $10/month at Planet Fatness.
-
30 bucks a month. Me and wife joined this gym a couple of months ago. I wish they had more freeweights, but since I don't actually pay for it, I don't complain. Tax write-off through the business. Before that, I worked out at Southern Fitness, it was 22 bucks a month. Alot more freeweights and stuff, but the wife didn't like it because only a handful or girls worked out there. Guess she was intimidated.
