I love Monet also,,Renaut,,Michaleangelo, I have been to France, seen the Luv(spelling) , yes I did hear about that heist. Were they caught. Sounds like something out of a movie. Where would you sell paintings like that if a crook stole them, or would it be for fun.

It's the Louvre. I'm jealous, I haven't been there yet. You never know about the motivation for some of these guys stealing these paintings. Like The Scream that was stolen a few years back. Absolutely tragic. The authorities believe the painting was stolen to move police resources from a high profile bank robbery. The vast majority of the force was dedicated to catching the robbers in the bank heist and through some funds found connected to the robbers and the theft of the painting they figured there was a connection. They were close to getting the painting but just missed it. Today it's still gone, one of the most famous paintings ever and since the thieves didn't give a shit other than to sidetrack the authorities, there's a good chance they destroyed the painting. Then there is the hired heists. Specific collectors that hire the theft for their collections. The purchase is made before the crime is committed. I haven't heard word on these latest painting so I don't know for sure if they recoved them.

Oskar Kokoschka, Edward Hopper, Edward Munch, Egon Schiele, Francis Bacon, mostly expressionists.
I'm kind of an art exhibition geek. It's always stunningly different if you see the actual painting in front of you.

I think the one stolen in 2004 has been recovered. I remember that when I first heard about it, I was glad that I saw it in it's last exhibition before the theft (might have been the last chance). Fortunally it's back now.

Serpieri who created the very sensual Druuna, a very goodlooking woman who would always land in the hand
of very evil men or monsters and almost always would get "raped" by them, the difference was she always enjoyed it.

Don't have a favourite, like a bunch, though Bosch and Bruegel come to mind.
I dig fantasy art too...

I love art in all its forms - I certainly appreciate the talents of someone who can draw or paint.
My favourite artists - Willem de Kooning, Salvador Dali, Picasso, and Robert Williams (the guy who painted the banned Appetite for Destruction album cover)

I went there once. I was surprised the Mona Lisa was smaller than I had thought and it was strange to see all the people clamoring around it and taking video and pictures. I've got some of our visit to the Louvre on video I'll try to take some pics and post them up for you :)

When I had my house in Manhattan Beach I collected Patrick Nagel. His work is awesome and I had several signed lithos. I probably had 20 or so. Had them in nice black lacquer frames. Look great.
-
While we are on the subject of art. In 1984 a best selling poster called Le Jazz was done. It had a girl in a leotard on her back with one knee up lying across a bench in an aerobic studio. If anyone knows where to get one of these or sees one or whatever tell me.

No it wasn't art it was a photograph. The pic is of my daughters mom. It was done in 1984 and she got paid nothing. She had no idea it was going to be a poster. We had one copy that I put in a great frame and everything. She was always embarassed about it but it was an awesome poster and we heard it was selling a lot of copies. I have asked her numerous times over the years and she can't even remember the photographers name anymore. It was just a photo shoot. This is another pic of her standing.
