I prepare oatmeal in the microwave and reheat lunch, dinner etc...put lots of frozen green veggies on a plate in the microwave for 3-4min. I do it all the time.
Some say microwaving food is bad and destroys fibers etc...
so do you not microwave? it was a problem?

microwaving is fine if you dont give a shit about your health. but there are tons of benefits from NOT microwaving. you keep all of the phytonutrients, all of the vitamins and minerals, you keep the fiber intact, and all of the growth factors in veggies and other foods.

theres plenty of evidence. google it. microwaving veggies destroys all of the vitamins and phytonutrients, and degrades the fiber.
any kind of cooking is going to harm the vegetables. hell, i have even heard that rinsing off broccoli results in a loss of the b-vitamins.
moral of the story= eat your veggies raw.
theres more benefits than a longer life...plenty of the nutrients in vegetables promote anabolism, speed fat use, decrease estrogen...plenty of good bodybuilding benefits. and fiber increases protein absorbtion.

Microwaves are actually quite the opposite as opposed to normal cooking. If you don't use a lot of water (frozen veggies need no water) and don't overcook the food it actually RETAINS more nutrients than conventional cooking does.

That's why I refer to common sense and common sense dictates that microwaving properly won't effect my food in a negative nutritional sense to the point that it will effect my well being and nutritional intake.
If you're correct then we should just eat everything raw because cooking any food destroys nutrients to some degree.
I stick with logic and common sense over that ideal any day of the week.

well actually yeah, you should try to eat as much raw foods as possible. the only problem is...after hundreds, thousands, of years of the human race being little panty waists about the way they eat their food....cooking all meats and eggs and the like....we now have much weaker immune systems and cant safely consume certain raw products. but i try to keep my meats as rare as possible while keeping them safe to eat. just gotta reach an internal temp of over 175 and its good to go

We now have much weaker immune systems because of cooking food? Dude, seriously what the fuck are you talking about? Even when we were eating raw foods the average life span of a human being was in the low 30's, it's now in the mid 70's and is increasing. People aren't dropping dead because of raw infected food poisoning them and that's certainly added to the average life span of human beings. Cooking food isn't the soul reason for this longevity increase (advancement of medicine and pharmacology being a big part of it) but it certainly has helped us from dropping dead from uncooked infected food.
When the incandescent light bulb was introduced people said we all would go blind eventually, that never happened. When microwaves were introduced everyone said we would get cancer, the food would be poisoned and that they were more harmful than good, that never happened. Most of the negative information floating around about them is just outright myth and complete misunderstanding of the technology.
There's no way around the fact that you are never going to get every single nutrient from a food that it has to offer without some degradation to it's value, that certainly hasn't stopped people from using them and getting a healthy dose of nutrition from microwaved foods.

It's not a matter of "what I think" it's a matter of what's true and what's not. That's the purpose of this board, to discern between bullshit and the truth. When you come on here and say things like "microwaving is fine if you dont give a shit about your health." I'm going to have to correct it because it's simply untrue. It's not my opinion and you are certainly able to make up your own mind about things and continue to believe what you want, but don't go spouting out bullshit here.

weve had this discussion several times on this board already...its not just me saying this....tons of other members all contributed. the consensus is that microwaving vegetables destroys al of the phytonutrients, anti-dioxidants, vitamins and minerals. there are studies that prove it.

i understand what your saying but your argument rests on the premise that of the thousands of phytochemicals in any vegetable, and there are thousands, cooking destroys all of them, when in actual fact cooking or light heating increases absorption and breaks down things like inulin etc which allow enhanced digestion.
It was also stated earlier in that thread that eating a mix of raw and cooked vegies is probably the best way to go.
Like I stated earlier, using a small amount of water and cooking them correctly (not overcooking, light heating) isn't going to be as detrimental and as usmokepole stated, increases absorption and helps with digestion.
