Title: how much do i need to recarb up?
Post by: coltrane on February 19, 2008, 06:27:04 PM
guys, i know it varies, but give me your rough estimate...

i'm pretty carb depleted and i'm loading tomorrow...i'm 220  5' 11'' with about 11%bf.  How many grams of carbs will fill me up to max you think?

thanks

contest prep?

or simply dieting?

If simply dieting, just EAT. All day, only carbs and a bit protein.

why?

You shouldn't excess protein on refeed days just because it makes you full.

You can simply eat more carbs when you eat only about 70-80g of protein that day.

taking two steps backwards to take one step forward....?

personally, i would still keep protein at least at 1.5 gram per lb even on a huge amount of carbs. your sacrificing growth otherwise.

it's okay that way, but a day with lower protein will not hurt you. 2 days, ok. but one day is no problem.

i guess your right. but if the guy has an appetite about him, he should try to reach the 1.5 gram per lb marker if at all possible.   along with all those carbs...proper protein intake could result in a pretty anabolic day. just keep fats way down or else your looking at some major fat storeage as a result of all of that insulin

all kidding aside man eat 600 grams for the whole day, your protein doesn't need to be high on a carb re load day.

carbing up if you're not in single digits bf  will not make any significant difference / changes in your body's appearance.

i completely disagree...i've been hovering anywhere from 10-13 percent and definitely see a difference in appearance.  (hmmm...maybe i'm just lower in bf and don't know it)

usually about what i aim for. I actually hate carb up days.  I feel less energenic than the lowered ones

funny.

I loved refeed days.  ;D ;D

600g is a good aim, but i would actually go even further. Just eat eat eat. If you mix simple and complex carbs on the refeed day, you will not have to worry about proein intake as well. brown rice and whole wheat pasta have plenty and just a bit of other protein sources and you'll be fine.

Wuerde aber nicht die maximale Glykogenspeicherkapazita et des Koerpers mit 600 gramm KH krass ueberstritten werden?

That's not the point.

The body is unable to store that many carbs and due to the no carb days before it cannot store it as fat as well, so you will boost your metabolism into space because it will burn the carbs.

thermogenic fat shredding is the key word.
