Where is Gunter now? Retired? A Gunter at 100% is very hard to beat.

He should have beaten him at the O that yr but got the nod at the GNC at least.
Ronnie goes down as one of the great Mr O's in history while Gunter had a few good shows.

About 10 years ago when I was in the Army I wrote him a letter because we are very similar genetically and I wanted to know how to get my chest to come along as it was lagging. I got a hand written letter back, complete with misspelled words in the space of two weeks. He gave me some ideas and I have put them to use. I will never be a pro but I feel pretty good about being 6'0 and 290lbs with a normal amount of bodyfat. I could probably shape up and be on stage at 245-255 which ain't bad. He is my hero and he did look great in those pics. Him winning the O would be the best thing that has happened to the sport since Arnold retired.

Good One. That was a hometown show for Ronnie in Louisiana. I'm assuming he thought that show was in the bag before stepped on stage.

Pete was a big bodybuilder and competed at the 1973 Mr. America at 256 pds.
It's funny that I was reading that interview last night and this thread pops up today.

I hear ya bro I remember reading that letter it was awesome I couldnt believe he wrote you man......at least he wrote you over ronnie coleman who just sent you a photo and not even signed.....

Actually Ronnie was really good at responding to emails. I recieved a few from him, one even sent from his blackberry. And all within 24hrs of sending them to him. I was impressed.

both chris and coleman should have placed over gunter in that gnc...
they let gunter win for the contravesy factor....

Not at the GNC 2002, he looked better from every angle in my opinion, hence his win.
