Title: Dan Duchaine's Dirty Dieting newsletter
Post by: 240 is Back on February 23, 2008, 12:54:03 PM
Dan Duchaine's Dirty Dieting newsletter... some crazy stuff here.  Ten years later... some of it has been proven to be correct, some of it to be insane.  Duchaine was definitely a gifted mind.

I didn't really know what a strange dude he was until I checked out some of his newsletter. Definitely worth a look.

LOL... yeah, I posted these 2 or 3 years ago, and just found them again.  This stuff was coming out back in the misc.fitness.weights era, when getbig was just starting out.

March 1998 - He breaks down the synergy of insulin with AAS.  Definitely ahead of his time.  Ten years later, kids are still trying to get this right.

I always think that the "hook" in Duchaine's writing was his propensity (whether deliberate or not) for mystification...

Would it work if a "natural" trainer promulgated common sense training theories coloured by the inference of "secret", "underground" or "suppressed" knowledge?

This certainly seems to be at least part of the appeal of HIT and Heavy Duty, and certainly goes some way to explaining the almost religious zeal attending those philosophies. In my experience High Volume trainers simply don't know any better... but HIT trainers BELIEVE!

Of course the HIT trainers are right, but that's a different discussion.

Nasser says he and other bodybuilders were using insulin back in 1990. That would put Duchaine about 8 years behind the times.

I can remember reading this stuff when it came out.  Really started me thinking scientifically about the design of cycles.  Great stuff.  Cool that one of the writers of that newsletter has chimed in.

This entire website is a waste of talent...

The only thing productive to come out of all the bickering and put-downs was the Mr GetBig contest. The fact that Mr GB 3 is on the way proves what a rousing success the pooling of that talent can be.

If Rob/240 could figure out some way to make it pay (via: memberships or website advertising or such), there is certainly enough talent on this site to rival T-Nation; MD; BB.com etc etc.

We don't need the bullshit from people such as gh15 (or the other know-it-alls/armchair-experts); but we have Jerome here and a plethora of other knowledgeable people on this site... and we have the opportunity to be something that none of the other sites can be: INDEPENDENT!

PM me 240... this is a good idea.

...epic stalking.

Can't you just hold off till I post pics in three months or so (as I promised I would)? I'll even post my pics on the G&O under the title: "Epic Tiny Tit!"

Now, can you please stop stalking me and polluting/hijacking threads that have nothing to do with my physique... just because I call you on your gimmicks and bullshit in some other thread is no need to traipse after me across the boards when public opinion turns against you in those threads.

::) i was calling you on your "everything on getbig is a waste" statement when you post absolutely insane things like having a comparable physique to a man who placed in the Top 5 of numerous Mr. Olympia's.

Monster hypocrisy.  Half of the threads I start or post in, you "magically" show up to stalk me with your novel-sized posts.

Luke, I appreciate the idea... but I'm still a few months out from any huge projects such as that.  Family keeping me too darn busy.

Early Jan. of 2000. You'll see a few dates ranging from 1/11- 1/14. My understanding is that he died and was found a few days later so that accounts for the discrepancy in the dates.

For the record, promises were made to Dan by the editor of the newsletter
to make a long story short, he ended up paying us out of his own pocket when the editor refused to pay us

Hasn't insulin played out? I knew a couple of guys who would soon turn pro in the late 90's that  fucked with insulin. After having blacked out a few times(once while driving) and finding it almost impossible to get shredded, they chucked it from their contest prep. :-\

GH, by inhibiting type III phosphodiesterase, blocks some of the fattening properties of insulin
of course, one can also use a type III PDI along with insulin
