Title: SUP! 405@ 218 for a double today?
Post by: blazer000 on February 25, 2008, 06:14:06 PM
hey guys

anyways, this time of year some colleges do an intramural "bench off"
ill be at the top of the class i'm in, i think they're doing like 199-220. Today i did 315x4, 365x2, 385x2 and then a double at 405. could have probably eeked out a 3rd, but i had the rest of the workout to do, so i racked it

think i'll be ok? this college not known to have tons of strong guys.

any suggestions for my first lift poundage wise? we get three

thanks !

That's awesome lifting.

I think you should start at 385, then go at 405 for your second lift, and then balls out for the 3rd.

This is, of course, if the competition have any resemblance to a real benchpress contest.

If not, you may be able to start with a higher weight.

The guy knows he will be at the top of his weightclass at least.

He's not pulling any of that "585 for reps in the incline is good but not world class" BS.

That may very well be the biggest bullshit I've ever heard.

---since Mat "World Strongest Arms" Duvall pulled his shit about incline pressing 675 lbs and shoulder pressing similar poundages.

And he didn't recover.

post a video clip?

people that struggle with 205 for a 5th rep should'nt question people who can push 405 x 2 !

yea,,,this is not like,,,an official thing, i talked to a judge yesterday, and he said that basically if you didn't bounce it then you'd be fine

so, i was thinking something like 385, 415, then up,,,,they have a weight class and a lb for lb,,,,,im not to optimistic about the lb for lb b/c i weigh 218, and a bud of mine is 170 doing 350...sooooooooo  yea

but anywho, thanks so much for the positivity guys, if i end up doing this, ill deliver a clip or two

peace!

yeah man if you smoked 405 for a doulbe you're probably good for a 420-425 single if you only did singles from 385 on up to it. that's strong as fuck for your weight. A client I'm working out with right now has your same stats and is an awesome bencher..does 445 for a double...i'm just having to teach his ass to lock it out!

I hope to be where you're at soon. Keep at it man!
