Story Highlights
- Ultimate safety net for the world's seed collections has opened in Norway
- The vault received inaugural shipments of 100 million seeds in total
- Norwegian govt. paid to build vault in mountainside between Norway and North Pole
A vast underground vault storing millions of seeds from around the world took delivery of its first shipment Tuesday.
Dubbed the "Doomsday Vault," the seed bank on a remote island near the Arctic Ocean is considered the ultimate safety net for the world's seed collections, protecting them from a wide range of threats including war, natural disasters, lack of funding or simply poor agricultural management.

I store my seed in a sock at the bottom of my bed.
Just in case anything ever happens to me and scientists need to clone my good self.
-
A sock doesn't sound like a very safe place at all Mr Aki. Nordic Supermans rectum makes an ideal storage place for ones seed, and he doesn't even charge for the service.
-
Haha lads! Quality ;D

Diesel, I fear the scientists would not be able to find my seed amongst the litres of "Harry Monk" swilling around in Nordic's cavernous colon.
It's like a veritable DNA database down there!
