WASHINGTON (AP) - The FBI has opened an investigation into whether baseball great Roger Clemens lied to Congress when he denied taking steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs.
Law enforcement officials say the inquiry will focus on whether Clemens or his former personal trainer Brian McNamee (MAC-nah-mee) lied when they testified under oath about the use of steroids.
In testimony Feb 13 , Clemens told Congress he never used either drug. McNamee testified that he injected the seven-time Cy Young Award winner with steroids and human growth hormone at least 16 times from 1998 to 2001.
The FBI inquiry was prompted by a request Thursday from the House Oversight Committee, which singled out statements by Clemens as possibly false.

People on the espn boards are acting like hgh is on the same level as meth ::)
-
That fact that he lied under oath is what they want to find out, period, they could care less for what reason. The drug itself isn't what matters here.

I saw this coming as soon as he opened his big mouth....he's screwed now!

afgh isn't a loss... but the reality is setting in that there is neither the infrastructure nor funds to eradicate the taleban that still own 10% of the country. Russia couldn't do it. today those pricks have cell phones and IEDs... even harder.
We own 90% of the country and it's serving our purposes, so it's not all bad there.

Afghanistan mission close to failing - US Updated at 7:30 PM

Injection of troops and aid has not brought stability says intelligence chief
After six years of US-led military support and billions of pounds in aid, security in Afghanistan is "deteriorating" and President Hamid Karzai's government controls less than a third of the country, America's top intelligence official has admitted.
Mike McConnell testified in Washington that Karzai controls about 30% of Afghanistan and the Taliban 10%, and the remainder is under tribal control.
The Afghan government angrily denied the US director of national intelligence's assessment yesterday, insisting it controlled "over 360" of the country's 365 districts. "This is far from the facts and we completely deny it," said the defence ministry.
But the gloomy comments echoed even more strongly worded recent reports by thinktanks, including one headed by the former Nato commander General James Jones, which concluded that "urgent changes" were required now to "prevent Afghanistan becoming a failed state".

what do you think the mission in afghanistan was?
to fix their shithole? or to set up bases and dig into that caspian sea oil?
Bush and CO. are reaching their goals, and they're making the US stronger because of it. Afghanistan getting looted. that simple.

See Rob, this is the problem and one of the reasons I didn't answer earlier about what you stated about Obama and the war, because it was simply idiotic what he said, I realized that as soon as I read it and strangly enough everyone else picked up on it as well including the liberal media.
Gotta admit though, Obama has some balls to even think he can stand in the same world as McCain when it comes to protecting this country. I've got to know though Rob, with all the things you come with I have yet to see a legit source it comes from, kinda like the 9/11 conspiracy rhetoric you come with......not a legit source to speak of.

Economy is not so bad...depends on who you talk to
Actually, a weak dollar helps our businesses sell their products overseas...so that can actually help the economy and trade deficit, and can also tame inflation and keep interest rates down
And gas is over $7 in many foreign companies, so it is still a great deal here...unless you piss your money away on Starbucks lattes
And you should NEVER lie under oath...no matter what the reason
-
16 times over a two year period, how the fuck would that have any effect on his performance....the trainer is total liar, he needed a big name for his upcoming book and movie deal and he picked Clemens. He is a fuck head.
-
I would say the Clemens is 100% SCWREAD BIG TIME for lying his ass off.
-
But will he be sharing a cell with Barry Bonds?
-
Great use of tax dollars!! ::)
My soon-to-be-former accountant feels I should be paying for this! >:(

U.S. Senator Barack Obama (D.-Ill.), who calls for speedy withdrawal from Iraq on the presidential campaign trail, appears to have only spent two days in the Middle Eastern country.
Obama was part of a congressional delegation, called a CODEL, led by Sen. Evan Bayh (D.-Ind.), to Iraq in January 2006---a year before President Bush announced his plan to send a “surge” of troops to Iraq in his 2007 State of the Union speech.
Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is seen with a camel in the animal market of Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya, near the borders with Somalia and Ethiopia in this Aug. 27. 2006, file photo. Obama's estranged late father was Kenyan and Obama visited the country in 2006, attracting thousands of well-wishers. (AP Photo)

Obama’s Senate website links news articles stating it was Obama’s first trip to Iraq. After spending two days in Baghdad Obama broke from the CODEL, which included Bayh, Sen. Christopher Bond (R.-Mo.) and Rep. Harold Ford (D.-Tenn.), early to spend eight days in Israel, Kuwait, Jordan and the Palestinian territories. Bayh's delegation later went on to Afghanistan and Pakistan without Obama.
In January 2007 Obama introduced the “Iraq War De-esclation Act” to require all troops to be removed from Iraq by pre-determined date. It was that same month the President sent 21,500 more troops to Iraq, a decision Obama has decried but has made no return trips to Iraq to see the effects of.
In August 2007, Obama confirmed with The Hill he had only been to Iraq once. Townhall found no subsequent reports indicating any other trips and it is highly unlikely he has taken time away from the presidential campaign trail for a secret visit in the interim.
Inquiries to Obama’s office to find out if the Illinois senator has been to Iraq since August 2007 were unanswered.
A spokesman for the State Department’s Bureau of Legislative Affairs, which oversees foreign travel for members of Congress, said he could not release information about senators’ publicly funded trips to Iraq or other countries. “It’s not a secret or anything, it’s just something they [the senators] should confirm,” he said. “We don’t want to speak for them.”
While Obama is likely to have only spent two days in Iraq, he has found time to make a two-week trip to Africa and conduct a fact-finding mission in Russia. News reports and press release from Obama’s Senate office show Obama took a 15-day trip to Africa in August 2006 to raise AIDS awareness and promote his book, “Audacity of Hope.” He traveled to Russia in 2005 with a delegation led by fellow Senate Foreign Relations Committee member Sen. Richard Lugar (R.-Ind.), to visit nuclear sites. On that trip, he also visited Ukraine, Azerbaijan and England.
Obama’s top rival for the Democratic nomination for President, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D.-N.Y.) has visited Iraq three times. She completed her last CODEL in January 2007, shortly before she announced her intention to run for the Democratic nomination for President. Clinton has made recent headlines by attacking Obama for his inexperience in foreign affairs by pointing out he has not held oversight hearings on the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs, which he chairs, because of his presidential campaign schedule
Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.) the presumptive presidential nominee of the Republican Party, often discusses his trips to Iraq and military experience while campaigning. As of August 2007 McCain had taken six trips to Iraq.
