Dougals Laboratories Ultra Preventative Multi. Conforms to USP. Not many multis can claim USP grade. For a b-complex, Solgar would be a good choice. Don't forget the Fish Oils.

500mg. Vitamin C
400 I.U. Vitamin E
30mg. Zinc
and 50mg of each of the B vitamins

overdoing vitamins doesn't do shit but come out in your urine.

there's no need to take that much.

sure there is if you're lifting heavy and intensely.  500mg a day IMO doesn't cut it.  You'd benefit by upping it

In the past I've taken up to 10000mg of vitamin C without getting the shits. However, I wouldn't recommend doing that. 500mg twice a should be fine.

it takes very high doses to reach bowel tolerance, not really a valid argument seeing as the doses can be easily adjusted.

i take 4 grams everyday.

What NOT to take is a synthetic vitamin like Centrum, Theragram, etc..Any of those big, shiny, hard compressed horse pills.

Buy one from food sources and always take with a meal or could make you queasy  :-X

i've always read in magazines that increased Vit C and E are good for bodybuilding in that they are the prominent free radical fighters.   Most mags say 1000mg twice daily for C and two 400mg for E.

I've got an idea:   CANDIZZLE--- GET ON THIS TOPIC AND PROVIDE US W AN ANSWER.

taking vit c around workout time is a bad idea simply because it reduce ROS  activated microtrauma need to damage and then subsequent recovery.

it would probably be fine after workout as it doesnt deactivate particular inflammatory mediators needed, after workout i see no issues.

I've never had to take any. I eat fairly well. It couldn't hurt to start taking a multivitamin/ b complex daily. Ill look into what you all are suggesting. thanks

I don't want to be deficient in anything. magnesium, selenium etc.

any more good brands?

I switch between ON and AST brands.
I’m not a big fan of the multi packets. I already take 30 liver tabs per day in a addition to my multi. This week, I’ll be starting Tribulus, too.
Enough damn pills already. >:(

AST's multivitamin is quite good. I used to take Animal Pak but it gave me a serious dose of the shits so I had to come off it. AST is a good compromise plus its only 1 tab as opposed to the Animal Pak packet of tabs that taste like dog shit.

ON's is a convenient 3-a-day. It contains some digestive enzymes that may help with your shits - assuming digestion is the root cause of said shits.

Or you could simply stick with the brand that yields the least amount of shits.

How much b12 tables/day? 1000mcg tablets. How about fish body oil? I see many recommendations here :)

FISHIES:
Basic everyday health maintenance is 2.5 grams/day.
2.5-5 grams for improved cardiovascular health.
5-10 grams from enhanced brain function, reduction of chronic inflammation (arthritis, bursitis, headaches, etc.).
10 grams and up has been shown to be helpful in treating some brain dysfunctions like Parkinsons, ADHD, Schizophrenia, extreme violent behavior, etc.

As for Liver/B12…
Liver tabs were quite popular with BB’s back in the 80’s. They are supposed to be highly anabolic and are an excellent source of natural iron and folic acid.
They help to support a healthy red blood cell count, bone health, immune functioning, and they also stimulate appetite.

B vitamins are nontoxic.
I take 30/day.
Typical doses seem to hover around 20-30 based on most people I’ve talked with (not too damn many ;)).
