I decided!! I'm making a comeback. I'll turn 50 this July and as of this morning buck naked, I weighed 155 @ 5'6" Now I'm not sure of I should move up to 165 or drop back to 148. I don't really gain weight that easy.
Anybody experience this?...... which way did you go? ...... Pros /cons?
Thanks

Train explosive, low reps.
You may be able to even drop a few lbs.
But just stick with the low rep (1-3 reps) and then mixing it up with explosive training (Also 1-3 reps, but lighter loads).
You may want to experiment with lots of explosive training, focusing on form, eg 6-7 sets of 3's with 60% of your 1RM for more than half of your workouts, at least from the start.
Say you squat 4 times in 2 weeks. Then perhaps you could do explosive squatting for 2 or even 3 of those workouts.
Just a suggestion.
Look at the Bulgarian Olympic weightlifters. Very strong, but dominates the lighter weight classes usually. They train 1-3 reps predominantly.
At least that is my suggestion.

Sounds like you want input on which weight class to compete in. My .02 cents says look in the mirror, if you need to lose 10-15lbs then do so. If not, then start training and let the body decide what weight it works best at.

That makes sense. I could stand to lose a little. Have gotten a little soft around the midsection.
