Title: Watched Grindhouse recently
Post by: danielson on March 11, 2008, 09:41:42 AM
Finally got a chance to see them,  watched both of them, Death Proof and Planet of Terror. Planet was "ok", but I enjoyed Death Proof. Other than the fact that I knew the actors and they were using cells and Ipods, I actually bought the whole "old school" feeling. I felt like it could have been made on a low budget in the 70's, which is not a bad thing considering that was what Quentin was going for. Anyone else see either of them?

Planet Terror was the best IMO. I hated Deathproof. It moved way to slow.

To my knowledge, these movies are sold seperately, and are not viewed as a whole as it was in the theater.  :(

I've also heard that whether you buy Deathproof or Planet Terror, neither shows all of the cheesy "coming attractions" á la Thanksgiving.

I'll wait to catch these flicks when GrindHouse comes out on DVD as a whole, complete movie as it was shown in the theater.

Planet Terror had a coming attraction for Machete. I recorded them both off Showtime (I think, maybe it was Starz), and watched them over two nights. Death Proof is 2 hours alone, not sure how long Planet Terror was.

Deathproof is better.  Just suffered from a general lack of nudity.  Guess Quentin forgot what the 70s really were like.

Deathproof annoyed me----too much "clever and witty" dialogue

some good death scenes but that was about it.

...and I really wanted to see those annoying bitches die at the end >:(

Deathproof - the aussie chick on the car hood - no CGI.

Brilliant stuntwork. I was in awe
