Strange, I was leafing through the new flex magazine and low and behold there's pics of Lee Priest in a few articles, kinda struck me as odd since they won't let him compete but hey, let's throw him in our magazine. Yes, I understand that he probably took the pics while he was competing for the IFBB but c'mon....
just seemed like a shitty thing to do to me.

Gee you think they took the photos while he was competing? Nothing gets past you! Lee was on the cover of many FLEX issues and despite his eratic behavior, still one of the best bodybuilders.
Is it shitty for MuscleMag to run photos of him too?

isn't "flex magazine" kinda like the "flag ship" of the IFBB?

I could give two shits about Lee or his photos and who runs them. Pointing out facts - magazines run old photos all the time and if you look at the first post it asks if it's "shitty" to do since he's suspended. No, it's not "shitty" to do.
Besides, Lee will be back on stage before we know it and this won't matter.

They have a right to his past images if they paid him for them, but it's a rotten thing to do to profit off his image after disallowing his re-entry to the league IMO. I'm with Al.

I thought that photos and likeness of an athlete becomes property of the Company by right of the photographers?
Example: EAS using the Body-For-Life Champions to sell their products. Their image becomes the property of the company regardless if they get paid or not....
I can see if a supplement company was using an athlete's image to sell a supplement and the athlete is not getting paid for it...but this isnt the case.
Lee is getting exposure....he should be happy about that...this can lead to more fans and other supplement companies/businesses contacting Lee...
If MuscleMag has Lee under contract and prohibits other mags from using his likeness like Flex does to other magazines whereby you dont see articles on Heath or other Flex/Weider sponsored athletes, I can understand. But maybe during that time, Lee was under contract by Weider or was paid by them for an article, ect...
But if its just contest photos, there is nothing wrong with that....exposure is all good : )

Lee has been eating humble pie for a while now. It is on the cards that he will be let back soon.

Contest photos, expo photos and other public photos can be posted anywhere you want, especially if it is considered an event or news, which in case, these are. You choose to work the expo booth, you choose to be on that stage, you choose to go to the party and so on.
However, your image can't be promoting a product or a company, because that is a different situation, unless they sign a waiver, in which many photographers or company have the person they are shooting do so.
Lee Priest, while out of the IFBB now, has been cordial both at the Arnold and at the Ironman.

Lee is unstable. Why would any company sign him? He will just go on to talk shit about them after anyway. It appears to me like it would be business suicide to sign him, unless his market appeal is really so great that it makes it worthwhile. Go to 0:50 in the clip below. Granted, Lee says he was joking when he said MD sucks.
The whole situation reminds me of guys I've known who have dated girls who had a boyfriend at the time and cheated on him to start this new relationship. Meanwhile this naive new guy presumes that it couldn't happen to him as she would never be inclined to do that.
Why would any company not be inclined to believe that Lee will act in the same unprofessional manner as he did before?
